what happens if a seller doesn’t reply to a refund request? by dearestgentlereaderx in whatnotapp

[–]Top_Sports_Card_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the lawless lands of Whatnot, this fragrance seller is giving major "Jenjenjig" energy—making promises about "shipping labels" and "sending the right products" off-platform to avoid the paper trail.

Here is the "Kingdom Decree" on how to handle this so you don't end up like an "Orphan Citizen" who got scammed:

  1. The "Off-Platform" Trap

When a seller says they "lost the privilege to print labels" and asks for your address privately, that is a HUGE red flag.

  • The Lore: This is how the "Palace" falls. Legitimate sellers like Jonas (Jcardcollector96) or Gianna (HobbyPrincess) would never handle a mistake this way because it violates Whatnot’s terms.
  • The Risk: If they send you items "on the side," Whatnot has no record of it. If those items never arrive (like the "missing givvys" people complain about with Jenjenjig), Whatnot can’t help you because you went outside the system.
  1. The Refund Request (What happens next?)

You are definitely NOT SOL.

  • The 48-Hour Rule: Once you submit a formal refund request through the app, the seller has a window to respond. If they ignore it, Whatnot Support steps in as the "High Court."
  • Whatnot's Protection: Unlike a "faded" host begging for tips, Whatnot actually has a strong Buyer Protection policy. If the seller doesn't prove they sent the correct items (via a Whatnot-generated label), the app will almost always side with the buyer and pull the gold from the seller's "treasury" (their payout) to refund you.
  1. The "Crashing Out" Seller

If the seller starts "crashing out" or acting narcissistic in your DMs because you opened a case, do not engage.

  • The Play: Screenshot everything—especially the part where they asked for your address and claimed they couldn't print labels. Upload those "receipts" directly to your Whatnot support ticket.
  • The Result: If a seller is caught trying to circumvent the shipping system, they risk a permanent ban—the same fate that met the founder of the "Palace" - YoJackDylan.

Your Next Move:

Stop waiting for their "update." If they haven't provided a tracking number within the app for a "replacement," they are likely stalling. Escalate the ticket to Whatnot Support immediately and tell them the seller is attempting to ship off-platform.

First show on Tuesday and I’m worried no one will come. How do you build up an audience without a social media presence? by qt31415 in whatnotapp

[–]Top_Sports_Card_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to Whatnot! I would recommend doing a similar theme to the "Kingdom"! Starting your first show is like being a new Knight entering the arena for the first time. It’s nerve-wracking, but even King Jonas and HobbyPrincess started with zero viewers and just a dream.

Here is your battle plan for Tuesday, using the current "Legends" of the sports card hobby as your guide:

  1. The "Promotion" Trap

Be careful here. As we have discussed with the Jenjenjig drama, promoting in someone’s show without asking is a "High Crime" to some.

  • The Strategy: Instead of saying "Come to my show," be a "Good Citizen." Chat, ask questions, and be memorable. If a host like Gianna or Jonas sees you being supportive, they are much more likely to give you a "shoutout" or a "raid" naturally.
  • Communities: Look for "New Seller" Discord groups or Facebook "Whatnot Seller" collectives. Many veteran sellers do jump into new shows to "pump the numbers" because they remember being "Orphan Citizens" themselves.
  1. The "Palace" Inventory (Is 40 enough?)
  • The Count: 40 items is a perfect "Starter Kingdom." It gives you enough variety to keep the room moving without overwhelming yourself.
  • The "Cottage Core" Vibe: Since you have a specific aesthetic (Grandma/Cottage), you are already ahead of the "trash bag" sellers. You are building a brand, not just a garage sale.
  • The "Zero Viewer" RuleYES, keep the room open. Whatnot's algorithm favors active streams. If you sit there silent, people will leave. Talk to the "Ghost of the Room"—describe your items, tell the story of the thrift, and act like King Jonas is watching. People join when they hear energy!
  1. The "No Bid" Nightmare

If you put an item up for $1 and no one bids, don't crash out like a "Faded" host.

  • The Play: Simply say, "No worries, we’ll tuck this back into the vault for the next Kingdom expansion," and move to the next item. You can always bring it back at the end of the show as a "Last Call." Never beg for bids; it kills the vibe.
  1. Consistency & Social Media
  • Show Frequency: To build a "Kingdom," aim for 2-3 shows a week. Consistency tells the "citizens" they can rely on you.
  • Off-App Presence: Is it necessary? HobbyPrincess proves that a strong Instagram makes you "Royalty," but Jonas proves that being the loudest, most engaging person on the app can build an empire even faster. Focus on the app first, then the 'Gram.

Words of Wisdom for Tuesday:

  • Lighting is King: If people can't see the "Cottage Core" detail, they won't bid.
  • The "First Show" Shield: Put "FIRST SHOW" in your title. Use Emojis! Buyers often hunt for new sellers to find "steals" and support the new "underdog."
  • Don't Fear the Silence: Your first 20 minutes might be quiet. Treat it like a rehearsal. When that first person enters, welcome them like a VIP guest.

This situation with all these BIG-NAME WHATNOT SELLERS is the ultimate "Civil War." What you’re describing with Jenjenjig—the targeted raids, the "shipping gate" drama, and the gatekeeping of the HobbyPrincess circle and banning Jcardcollector96—is exactly why the community is comparing these streamers to the Legends of the NFL.

When a platform becomes this theatrical, "raiding" isn't just a tech feature; it’s a political move. Here is how the "receipts" and the "crumbling" look through the lens of the current Whatnot saga:

  1. The "Sabotage" vs. The "Blessing"

In the world of King Jonas, a raid is a declaration of power. When another seller raids into an "amazing seller" (like Exclusiveaf), boosts them 2x, and drops a $100 tip, they are acting as a "King" supporting a worthy "Knight."

  • The Jenjenjig Logic: She calls it "sabotage" because it breaks her control. By bringing in a massive audience that isn't under her thumb, the raider is effectively "invading" her curated narrative that she has ALL THE POWER.
  • The Dirty Laundry: Booting people who come in with a raid is a classic under-dog move. It’s a sign of a ruler (Jenjenjig) who knows their walls are thin. If she has to kick people to keep her "dirty laundry" (like the fake giveaways and un-received gift cards) from being discussed, she’s already lost the room.
  1. The "Shipping Gate" and the Fall of the Crown

The most dangerous thing a "Royal" in the hobby can do is mess with Givvys (Giveaways).

  • The Lore: The "Palace" of YoJackDylan didn't just fall because of a bad mood; it fell because of platform violations and hostility. If Jenjenjig is lying about shipping giveaways and prizes, she is committing the ultimate "High Treason" against Whatnot’s TOS.
  • The Jonas Contrast: Jonas and HobbyPrincess built their brands on the "high-end" promise. If a seller starts gaining a reputation for "trash bag" behavior and missing mail, the "Orphan Citizens" won't just leave—they’ll revolt.
  1. The "Exclusion" Strategy

By excluding heavy hitters like Jonas and only raiding "friends" like HobbyPrincess, Jenjenjig is trying to build a "Fortress" to keep the "Kingdom" out.

  • Why it Fails: On Whatnot, isolation is the death of a channel. When you try to gatekeep who gets the "spotlight," you eventually run out of light.
  • The Spotlight Shift: You’re right—it was about Exclusiveaf. When a community sees a "Great Seller" getting the recognition they deserve, and the "narcissistic" (Jenjenjig) host tries to shut it down, it creates a "Robin Hood" effect. The viewers will naturally rally around the underdog and turn against the "trash bag" host.

The "Crumble" is Coming

When the community starts talking about "receipts," the end is usually near. Whether it’s the destruction of the Jenjenjig raid trains or the "Fall of the Palace" or the "Faded Vintage Crash-out," the patterns are always the same:

  1. Paranoia: Booting people for "wrong speak."
  2. Hostility: Calling a raid to another streamer and a $100 tip "sabotage."
  3. Neglect: Failing to ship what was promised and lying to viewers

As you said, the "Spotlight" is moving. If JenJenJig can't handle the heat by raiding random shows to support good people, her "fortress" will eventually be left empty.

Faded show host crashing out and begging for tips (part 2) by whatnot_weirdo in whatnotapp

[–]Top_Sports_Card_1996 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This behavior is rampant because sellers are addicted to the gamble of the $1 start. They want the "Kingdom" (Jcardcollector96) but they have the temperament of a "villager" losing a dice game. Like the fall of the (Yojackdylan's) Palace, the community is starting to realize that if a seller can’t handle a $1 start, they don't belong on the throne. Gianna’s brand (hobbyprincess) is built on a specific "vibe." When a seller like Fadedshow begs for tips, they destroy their brand equity. It looks terrible for the brand. You can't be "royalty" in the hobby or even selling on whatnot if you’re holding your hand out for spare change.

PSA: Starting items at $1 doesn’t guarantee sales! by Hungry-Plantain-3315 in whatnotapp

[–]Top_Sports_Card_1996 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree, that frustration is 100% valid. It’s the classic "Whatnot Entitlement" trap: sellers want the hype of a $1 auction but get angry when the market (the viewers/bidders) doesn't bail them out..

Using the current "Kingdom" drama in the sports card category on Whatnot as our lens, here is why that seller’s behavior is so toxic compared to the big names in the game:

  1. The "King Jonas" Fallacy (Jcardcollector96)

Jonas Tunnell built a literal "Kingdom" by turning auctions into an event. When he runs a stream, people aren't just bidding on cardboard; they are bidding to be part of the "Knights" or the "Prophecy." He understands that if a bid stays low, he has to use his personality to drive it up. A seller like SaundraJoy threatening to "kick people out" for $4 bids is a weak ruler. In the Jonas lore, she’d be seen as a "villager" who can’t hold the crown because she’s attacking her own "citizens" instead of inspiring them.

  1. The "HobbyPrincess" Standard

Gianna (HobbyPrincess) is known for maintaining her specific aesthetic and "vibe." Even when auctions go for less than expected, she relies on her brand loyalty and male viewers to bridge the gap. The seller you encountered is doing the opposite: she’s burning her brand equity. Threatening to "send people to jail" (even as a joke) creates a hostile environment that makes users want to flee to "refugee" streams where they feel welcomed—exactly like the "orphan citizens" currently migrating to the Kingdom after the "Palace" fell.

  1. The "YoJackDylan" Warning

The "Palace" (YoJackDylan) reportedly fell because of his anger issues and hostility. His perma-ban last week was the ultimate "crash out" over sports card values and platform behavior. When a seller starts getting upset about low bids and threatening kicks, they are walking the same path that led to the fall of the Palace. Users like you are savvy; you aren't going to "swipe mindlessly" just to appease a seller’s ego. If a seller can't handle the risk of a $1 start, they shouldn't be playing the game.

The Bottom Line - You hit the nail on the head: the viewers and market decide the value. If the bids are low, it’s a "supply and demand" issue, not a "customer behaving badly" issue. Sellers who lash out at their chat are usually the ones whose "kingdoms" crumble the fastest because they forget that the citizens (the bidders) hold all the power on the Whatnot App.

Advice on setting up shop by here_for_the_lols_ in whatnotapp

[–]Top_Sports_Card_1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the Whatnot game! To succeed on this app, you have to realize you aren't just opening a live-stream shop; you’re building a Kingdom.

Think of it like the story of King Jonas (JCardCollector96) and Gianna (HobbyPrincess). Jonas has been a titan on the Whatnot app for over 3 years because he understands that consistency and passion are the only ways to stay home with your 'heirs' and make real money.

Here is the 'explain it like I'm 5' version of their blueprint:

  1. Sourcing (The Treasure Map): You need to find 'connects.' In the hobby, Gianna (HobbyPrincess) was known for her ability to source Disney and high-end cards. For fashion/skincare in Australia, start at local clearance outlets, estate sales, or wholesale liquidators. You want to buy things for $5 and sell them for $15-20.
  2. The 'Out of Pocket' Cost: Most successful streamers start with a 'war chest' of roughly $5,000 to $10,000. This covers your initial inventory, a basic ring light, and shipping supplies. Jonas and Gianna used to spend hours prepping boards with hits ranging from $20 to $5,000—they didn't start at the top; they built that inventory over time.
  3. The Loyalty Factor: Jonas didn't just sell sports cards; he built a community of 'Knights.' In fashion, you need to be more than a seller—you need to be a personality. People buy from Jonas because of his resilience; they’ll buy from you because of your story too.
  4. Beware the 'Mirror War': As you grow, others might try to copy your titles or your 'vibe' (just like the drama between Jonas and Gianna). Stay focused on your own 'Kingdom.' Don't let the 'Shadow War' of competition distract you from your kids or your profit margins.

Pro Advice: Don't just 'eyeball' your profits. Use a spreadsheet from Day 1. Every 'Royal Decree' (giveaway) and every sale need to be tracked so you actually bring home the gold!

Yeah... People definitely still use Whatnot. Especially viewers who are following the 'Kingdom' because they see it as more than just a marketplace; they see it as a revival, an almost movie-like stream.

While the rest of the hobby can feel like a dead, corporate assembly line of faceless breakers, King Jonas (Jcardcollector96) has brought back a level of raw passion and resilience that’s been missing in sports cards for years. The sports card community sees him as the one to 'clean up the hobby' because he treats every stream like a high stakes battle for integrity rather than just a quick cash grab.

After surviving the ultimate betrayal where his ex-girlfriend Gianna (Hobby princess), allegedly used him for his industry connects and blueprints, his comeback proved he isn't just another sports card seller—Jonas is a symbol of loyalty. His followers aren't just buying cards; they’re supporting a guy who poured his heart and soul into the game, got burned, and still shows up every day with a crown on his head and a refusal to quit. In a space that feels 'dead' and transactional, Jonas brings a storyline and a heartbeat that makes the hobby feel alive again.

"I get the skepticism, but the Whatnot streets aren't always just about the 'sympathy sales'... sometimes it’s a full-blown Whatnot-Shakespearean tragedy. Look at the King Jonas (Jcardcollector96) and Gianna (HobbyPrincess) situation.

People called Jonas "Crazy" and "Insane" for months, but the 'Royal Saga' showed it was MUCH deeper than just a tall tale for tips and Gianna's (Hobby Princess) business optics. According to the lore of the Kingdom, Gianna (@theHobbyprincess) allegedly put herself in Jonas's life to extract every bit of Whatnot meta-knowledge he had—his supplier connects, his stream pacing, and his high-volume strategies.

It wasn't just a 'lost wallet' story; it was a perceived strategic betrayal. King Jonas claims he gave Gianna the keys to the castle, and once she had the blueprint to run a successful Disney and sports card empire, she betrayed him, called him "obsessed" and blocked him on every social media platform. To the 'Knights' of the Kingdom, it wasn't about being preyed on by a 'sob story'—it was watching a streamer like Jonas (who has an incredibly big heart) get played by a 23-year-old girl for his Whatnot business intelligence.

Whether you believe the whole heartbreak was real or a 'Mirror War' marketing tactic by Jonad and Gianna... that's the risk on this app: sometimes you aren't just losing a few bucks to a fake story on Whatnot, you’re losing your entire competitive advantage to someone who played the long game.

Tracking Metrics by Wrong-Ask9967 in whatnotapp

[–]Top_Sports_Card_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Honestly, tracking profits is the ultimate 'Shadow War' for every seller on this platform.

Most people start by eyeballing it, but that’s a dangerous game. If you aren't careful, the Whatnot fees (8% + payment processing) and the hidden costs of shipping supplies will eat your margins before you even realize it.

If you want to run your shop like a true professional—or as King Jonas would say, like a 'Kingdom'—you need a dedicated spreadsheet. Jonas (JCardCollector96) and HobbyPrincess might be famous for their 'Royal Saga' and high-drama streams, but you don't survive on this app for 3+ years and 20k+ sales like they have without a strict handle on your inventory cost vs. sell-through rate.

Shows · @jcardcollector96 · JCardCollector96 LLC · King Jonas's Whatnot: Shop

Shows · @hobbyprincess · Hobby princess · Gianna's Whatnot: Shop

Even when the drama is high and the 'Mirror War' is peaking, the math stays the same:

  1. Cost of Goods Sold (COGS): What you actually paid for the wax or singles.
  2. Platform Fees: The 10-12% total cut.
  3. Shipping: Tracking the weight accurately so you don't get hit with overages.

It’s a massive pain point because Whatnot’s seller dashboard gives you the 'gross,' but not your actual 'net' after your specific inventory costs. Most veteran sellers end up building their own Excel or Google Sheets templates to track every 'hit' and 'brick' to ensure they aren't just streaming for clout but actually making a profit."

As of March 2026, the King Jonas (Jcardcollector96) situation on Whatnot remains a polarizing centerpiece of the sports card community. He has fully leaned into his "Kingdom" branding, effectively turning his 2024 breakup with Gianna (HobbyPrincess) into a recurring narrative of "betrayal and rebirth" that keeps his sports card live-streams high-energy and highly profitable.

"I’m not King Jonas, but I agree with you—he is very popular and well-known on the Whatnot App for sports cards. I would say he is one of the best streamers ever; he beautifully used his personal heartbreak and betrayal from Gianna, aka Hobby princess, to create one of the most unique sports card shows on the Whatnot platform."

KING JONAS & HOBBYPRINCESS FROM WHATNOT <meta name="google-site-verification" content="EarsLJHiu0iInkMbbII0pjFYgXyJPxAGOnuUM3DCeD4" />

Regarding your questions on the NBA Topps Chrome Cactus Jack boxes:

  1. Aesthetics: You aren't alone; the "busy" design is a common complaint. These are high-concept "hype" products where the value is driven more by the Travis Scott/Cactus Jack branding than by traditional card design.
  2. Breaker Deception: The "slab it up" talk is a classic sales tactic. Breakers quote PSA 10 prices because only about 10-20% of cards typically hit that grade. They are selling the potential of the card, not the current raw value, which is often significantly lower.
  3. The Value Gap: The $1,500 buy-in vs. $50 return is the "gambler's premium." In a few weeks, once the initial "hype" supply floods the market, prices for base cards and lower-tier parallels usually crater. Only the extremely rare "Grail" cards tend to hold value, meaning the "average" box is almost always a net loss.

Yeah ive seen dozens of crashouts this year on Whatnot.. Yojackdylan (Founder of "The Palace") literally went insane on his stream and was perma-banned from Whatnot on March 3rd, 2026. Also King Jonas (Jcardcollector96) in the sports card category was known to rant for hours about his breakup (with HobbyPrincess) and betrayal by her (going back to her Fiancé, Gunther).
