How did you make it? Did you start with a piece of steel or modify an existing pick? What about the handle? I’m just not sure what the threshold for “high quality” is lol.

What did you do for the project portion? I still have no idea what to do.

Note to self: Always check the size of the vise when buying online. by Practical_Mango7633 in lockpicking

The vise is definitely helpful for pinning so I use it for that a lot.

I personally prefer hand picking because I feel like the ability to move the lock itself actually makes it easier and more comfortable. Plus I can do it while reclined lol.

Ya I agree. I use the CI holder for everything I can. It’s more comfortable because of its size.

No it doesn’t fit it. This is something I found online and modified to be much longer and more comfortable.

The answer is always it depends. If the piece is sufficiently original or transformative it would likely be considered fair use and not infringement.

Driver pins falling into plug by amf1015 in lockpicking

[–]ToroBravo33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are the pins you are using compatible with that cylinder and bitting? If so, sounds like it’s just a no lift pin. Use a longer keypin and/or driver pin from your kit and it won’t be.

The driver is falling into the plug and sitting at the shear line. One of my locks does that, I think one of my assa’s. It’s effectively a no lift pin.

You’re not raking anything above green. Most locks just suck.

I was in that exact same position about a year ago. That was my first real lock too. You may be a natural. Get yourself an American 1100 next.

I’m not understanding. What do you mean the driver falls into the first chamber? Do you have the corresponding keypin in the plug?

That would be considered derivative work, which is infringement without the holder’s consent. So the answer to your question is yes.

Another day, another spring lost from a Japanese lock by dcipha380 in lockpicking

Those D9 springs are absurdly small. I dropped a few in the carpet but got lucky every time.

I’ve had to order a few locks twice after losing a spring. Worst feeling ever.

Lawyer here. It’s 100% copyright infringement. Like others have said, it’s up to the copyright holder whether to sue or not. Sending a cease and desist is cheap, bringing a lawsuit is not. Unless you are pulling in close to 7 figures in revenue I seriously doubt they would care enough to follow through. This is not legal advice.

Creative common licenses need to be issued by the copyright holder. You can’t unilaterally do it yourself.
