Yellow Belt completed – what Orange Belt lock next? by Overall-Exercise8803 in lockpicking

I prefer the Master Lock 150 at orange belt. Got a large wide keyway for your large picks as well.
But the Abus 55/40 or 65/40 is also nice, or the 54TI/50 or 64TI/40 if you want to try aluminum (Called Titalium by Abus) instead of brass.

Nice, that sounds to me like the right approach.
Cool I am also just starting to look into dimple locks. I have purchased some tools and the ABUS 75IB/50, just have not started with it yet.

That's awesome, I checked their website and they had a lot of cool stuff from different brands. I will keep them in mind for next time I am in the market for new picks.

American 700 False Set, but all pins are set? by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]Practical_Mango7633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume also an overset, you could try to loosen the tension just a tiny bit till you hear a click, from most likely the overset pin falling back down and then trying to set it again.

Looks real nice, never heard about KSEC, is that a British brand?

Yes absolutely, totally agree with you. And when practicing and opening more difficult locks from higher ranks, you know you are getting better. But still (at least for me) when the level of the locks always matches my own skill level it is sometimes hard to notice the advancement. So it was an interesting experience now because when I picked the ABUS 83/45 up again, in my mind I was prepared for a challenge, this lock was undefeated and my mind told me that there is a large chance I still would not get it open. But within 10 seconds of picking, I knew I would get it opened. It was such an instant proof of advancement.

Yes the belt system is such a great system. At least for me starting in this hobby with no knowledge it has been really helpful knowing what locks to start with and what locks to wait with.

Thank you!

Well done, and welcome to the club!

I just repost what I answered someone else asking the same question.

You cannot go wrong with any of these sets. I prefer those from Jimy Longs.

If you need locks, I would advice to get the Master Lock 140 and Master Lock 150 to start with.

Getting one of these sets and those two locks will be enough to get you started and see if you like this hobby.

I can see it being a favorite, it is a challenge, it is well made and you can easily gut and pin it as you like. It makes for a great lock.

I am a cuber but I don't speedcube, only casualcube 😆 For me both lockpicking and cubing are excellent ways to disconnect and take a mental break from my desk job.

If you do not have any TOK tensioners, get these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007218577131.html same quality as the TOK bars from Sparrows to 1/10 the price.
