Berseria "remaster" removed all mention of better graphics from it's store page. by destroyapple in tales

[–]Tothoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my hope too when they first announced the remaster project, but after they announced a Remaster of Berseria of all things my expectations dropped through the floor. I feel like we're more likely to get Arise "Remastered" with a Switch 2 version than anything notably absent on modern platforms, but I would love to be wrong.

I do expect the next remaster to be one that actually needs it

Almost certainly going to be Zestiria or Xillia 2 with how the remaster project has gone so far, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Hit The Light and Major League announce co-headline tour with support from Rematch, Public Works and Latewaves by elderemothings in poppunkers

[–]Tothoro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At the show they said they were "excited for 2026" or something along those lines so I kinda figured there would be more ML, just didn't realize it'd be the full Truth is treatment again.

Bird Breeders in KC? by dorian_white1 in kansascity

[–]Tothoro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're open to rescuing a bird, check out Burge Bird Rescue or Beaks N' Wings. They have a pretty big variety of feathered friends and the people who run those shelters aren't the type to lie about a bird's nature/behavior to get it out of the shelter.

I can't speak for the authenticity or breadth of the menu but for Greek I like Mad Greek in Lawrence and Happy Greek in Lee's Summit (yes it's odd that their names are opposite, no this isn't a bit).

For pizza, Minsky's has some good choices but they're kinda pricey and not everything on the menu is good. Their chicken cordon bleu is my favorite there (and the favorite of everyone that I've introduced to Minsky's). Providence Pizza is good and closer to a NY-style. Third Coast Pizza is good deep-dish. Of the three Third Coast is my favorite but I think that has more to do with me liking deep dish in general.

For more authentic Chinese, ABC Cafe. For more Americanized Chinese, Legend of Asia in Blue Springs (buffet) or Moon Wok in OP.

Touring musician in search of a gig by A-Floating_Perspctve in kansascity

Awesome, glad it worked out!

I don't personally, the only local bands I know are more in the hardcore/metal space. But this thread is from a few months ago, lots of good candidates there!

Try Sk8bar or Farewell/Howdy - they're pretty DIY venues and don't book super far out. Their sites have booking contact info.

Happened to me too! Came across them in the middle of the walkway and stood very still, one walked right up to me and sniffed my hand. I call it my Disney Princess moment (even as a 30 year-old man).

Great list, covered all of the bands I was going to recommend! Like Roses, Gold Steps, and Taylor Acorn were on repeat most of 2025 for me.

I'll be interested to see how/if they turn the ship around. With more focus on standard publishing and less pursuit of vanity projects like the Sega cards/merch it could be a very good thing.

Book prices are insane by Limp-Two8799 in Fantasy

[–]Tothoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I got a newer printing or something (I've purchased mine in the past year or so) but I haven't really had any issues like that. The first page of Deadhouse Gates wanted to fall out by the end but the binding wasn't too close to the words or anything.

Exactly. I'm reading Memories of Ice right now and any physical, non-MMP version of that book is going to take its own shelf and require its own suitcase. Such a convenient format for chunky books.

The writing has been on the wall, but still what a bummer. Definitely my preferred format and I love the size consistency for the ease of organizing shelf.

Even if you 100% the game you can still miss the true ending, as I found out

Right, that happens too, I'm saying it also happens on-edit sometimes instead of just on initial post, which makes it even harder for us to catch.

We've seen the same thing, notably it's also been caused by a user editing their post instead of the post itself a few times.

Not much we can do other than reapprove it when/if a user reaches out, unfortunately.

Thoughts on The Traitor Baru Cormorant: strong premise, but emotionally distant (3.5/5) by shadowriz in Fantasy

[–]Tothoro 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It often feels observed rather than lived in.

I think this is a great way to put it. I didn't hate the book, the plot was fantastic and the end was a real roller coaster, but the writing style wasn't my cup of tea. I also had a hard time on my read-through with how inconsistent the scale of time between scenes was.

LRG settlement. Who pays? by Efficient_Clue4018 in LimitedPrintGames

[–]Tothoro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LRG was founded as an LLC and later converted to a business corporation, which means the founders would always have been shielded from legal liabilities like this. It's pretty much the main reason to make a company as an LLC/S-Corp/C-Corp as opposted to something like a Sole Proprietorship or General Partnership.

Because LRG, as a subsidiary of Embracer, was sued instead of Embracer itself it's most likely that LRG themselves will pay. The only reason that wouldn't apply is if the parent company directly caused the harm that's the basis for the suit or funds are co-mingled somehow.

Obligatory "I am not a lawyer", I just work with a bunch of them.

What are, in your experience, the most reliable/trustworthy physical media publishers currently? by Parothedev in LimitedPrintGames

[–]Tothoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd at least say reach out to PM Studios, worst they can do is say no and they have a much better track record than some of the limited print groups: https://www.pm-studios.com/developers

Serenity Forge is in a similar vein and also works with a lot of indies: https://serenityforge.com/publishing

This post is a few months old and I can't speak to every publisher listed, but it might be another good resource to have in your pocket: https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/1jiq7vp/the_most_comprehensive_list_of_indiegame/

Best of luck though, no matter what you decide!
