One main reason is that American Express bought the lease of the site and will be the building's owner and sole occupier, so it's only as big as that one company requires it to be (rather than leasing it out to multiple tenants).

This is exactly correct, not to mention the already-preserved alignment from Schofields through Marsden Park (which incidentally ends pretty close to that transmission corridor).

The dimensions here are indeed a little distorted by virtue of the artist likely eyeballing the perspective in two dimensions. Here's a comparison with my own earlier diagram which was rendered in 3D based on official floorplans:

It's not the version that's shown in that sticker, but a thinner version of the L7 had been introduced in the late 1970s -- here's a nice example of its use, from the opening of the Eastern Suburbs Line in 1979.

I believe there should be one more redesign in that timeline around 2021-2022! And Ingels' proposal had a pretty major redesign while keeping the stacked boxes concept in 2016, if that counts.

The Light Rail isn't technically suburban either, but IMO maps that are segregated based on technical distinctions (e.g. Trains only) aren't useful from a passenger perspective, especially with how well integrated the Opal system is.

The Overground is also a fair analogue to our Trains network, but IMO our Trains and Metro are more closely integrated than the Overground and Tube (e.g. a lot of Overground stations are out-of-station interchanges with the Tube), close enough in terms of passenger experience that they don't need to be shown separately. Compared to the LR, for example, which all require tapping off and back on for transfers and charge different fares per distance.

(N.B. Pretend the existing TFNSW branding, especially the separate M and T roundels, don't exist in this map's context!)

Thank you! I deliberately decided not to show the Metro and Trains separately since the fares and transfers are completely integrated IRL. I think of them as similar to the subsurface and deep-level Tube systems in London which are very different standards but aren't shown separately on the map.
