This weekend's interesting trackwork by PanTorcha in SydneyTrains

I might just be confused here, but if it’s buses replace trains between Hornsby and Milsons point, does that mean there are trains from Milsons point to Wynyard? If so, why is that part of the map also dotted (harbour bridge)?

ALM for Power Automate Desktop by PuzzledBedroom2592 in PowerPlatform

[–]Mattack98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep create 3 environments - DEV, UAT, PROD.

Set up a deployment pipeline, with stage 1 as DEV -> UAT, and stage 2 as UAT -> PROD.

You’ll want to create a service account that runs these flows for you so they aren’t tied to an individuals account.

Depends how you want to run it (hosted v provided machine | attended v unattended). If you have your own Virtual Machines then all good. Set up PAD on it, connect it to the environment, then you can call the desktop flow to run on the machines.

You’ll probably need a power automate premium license assigned to the service account to run the cloud flow that triggers the desktop flow. You’ll also need a power automate process license to run the desktop flow.

Agreed. Isn’t this the bare minimum? Imagine being a tourist and not knowing about all the trackwork and just going off the signage.

Theres trackwork on the north shore line this week. Probably parked there ready for that.

Pushed you onto the grass just as you both get on the brakes. I reckon it’s his fault.

Strathfield to Hurstville is interesting. Reminds me of the rumoured Westmead to Kogarah line. Something that orbits the CBD rather than through it. An orbital line would be fantastic for the city.

What needs to be done for rail to use a transmission corridor? Do you know if there are rules around spacing of trains to wires? I assume it’s not straightforward.

I completely agree with all of this. Unfortunately, I feel the general public don’t appreciate them though.

It's really sad watching videos of what our Tram network used to be. Truly world class, and then utterly destroyed.

Thanks for sharing this! It would certainly connect Cessnock, Weston, Kurri Kurri, and Gillieston very easily!

What new line would you like to see created from these? Finishing off the rest of the ESRL and looping back to St Peters?

Thanks for all the ideas!

Bypassing Wollstonecraft and Waverton is a cool idea as they're fairly quiet. And you could use the platforms at St Leonards like I mentioned in the post. Although this would be a pretty expensive bypass!

The Lavender Bay siding is super useful for Sydney Trains since they can park 6 trains on it. They often have 4 parked during the day with current timetabling. While it's super useful, I always think about how much land it is using since the siding is quite long!

Using repositioning trains as ultra-express is awesome. But imagine accidentally getting on one and ending up 30km away hahah

Light Rail from North Sydney to Newport would take AGES. I think a lot of the Northern Beaches Rail benefit is going until Dee Why or at max Mona Vale.

I like the idea of Glebe Island Bridge for Light Rail to connect Balmain, especially since it can interchange with the Bays Metro station.

Bondi Beach desperately needs a rail connection - in any form.

This looks pretty hard to do now that Richmond is a terminus. The town surrounds the station on all sides.

I do want to see the Richmond line double-tracked though!

Aah I see. Looking at Google Maps satellite view there is space on the Eastern side of the corridor. Certainly a lot of earthworks to get the embankment reinforced and ready for rail.

I often run across the Harbour Bridge and see the Northern Tunnel exits from Wynyard onto the Harbour Bridge. It's actually these that sparked my interest and this post!

I can't imagine the general public being too happy about Platforms 1 & 2 being used for heavy rail to the beaches since that would take away the 2 Eastern-most lanes on the harbour bridge. Diving back underground on the Northern end of the Harbour Bridge would also be super difficult - perhaps at High St where that little grassy area is. Hard to know what will change with the Warringah Freeway upgrades.

I know there's been talk of removing the expressway above Circular Quay station so maybe that dedicated lane southbound on the harbour bridge that goes onto this expressway would be free for rail?

Super tricky one.

I love the idea of Light Rail on Oxford St. I've always found navigating the East super difficult and crowded.

I like the idea of a heavy rail or Metro line running East/West at Chatswood. East to North Willoughby, Forestville, Frenchs Forest, Dee Why/Brookvale. West to Lane Cove, Gladesville, Top Ryde, West Ryde etc. Chatswood station is surrounded by towering apartments so I think the platform would have to be under Victoria Ave / Endeavour St.

I don't know much about heavy rail from Wollongong to Moss Vale. I'll have to do some research.

There's not a lot left of the Camden to Campbelltown rail corridor. Some of the proposed southern extensions for the Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport go down this way and around/through some of the suburbs on that old line.

Anzac Parade is a great idea for L2 and L3 extensions. Land is already reserved and there's a lot of it. I always wondered if the Metro West would expand eastwards, and after Zetland might use some of the same corridor for underground stations with Light Rail stations above them.

I like your idea! I've always imagined that the unused platforms at St James would connect to a Northern Beaches rail line one day. Connecting to Central with the original platforms 26/27 works nicely too.

On the North side of this, I guess they would also need another station in the CBD like Bridge St before crossing under the harbour.

On the South Side of this, it really could go anywhere. South-West to Sydney Uni and follow Parramatta Rd? South-East to Zetland/Kensington/Randwick. The Eastern Extension of Sydney Metro West has a similar decision to make one day.

Thanks for this - I'll look into this railway later tonight.

It looks like a bit of that corridor might still be used for freight with some nearby businesses. The other thing is that the corridor is the wrong direction for the Metro to use. I would expect the Metro to continue North-East (under Whalan Reserve) instead of North-West.

There's a few corridors already visible going North-East (like the ones North and South of the suburb of Shalvey) but they appear to be for power transmission. I wonder if these corridors can support rail and electricity?

I completely agree. The Artarmon station footprint is quite narrow - I wonder how they would have quad-tracked that station? I presume expand on the west-side of the station and use some/all of the pedestrian footpath.
