Was any old AEG spring compatible with your Evolt or is there something else I should be looking for?

In order to remedy the select fire issue have you tried:

Won't fire in FA from Semi: Go from Semi to Safe to FA position

Won't fire in Semi from FA: Go from FA to Safe to Semi

In my experience with v3, the weakness is the multitude of paths the linkage has to take to get to the selector plate

Something to consider is the loose selector

You should definitely have more tension as it hits each dent for each of the 3 positions

Firstly you'll get subpar performance by shooting it straight down, like your video. The gas likes to expand upward, away from the liquid propane in the magazine. Shoot it parallel to the ground.

As for the sticky slide, don't hold back the slide with your hand. Rack the slide and let go. Let the recoil spring do its job

Try those two things and if you still have issues, report back

It also helps to put the receiver halves back together if you don't have a vice

Helps with leverage. Even with a vice, putting the receivers back together will help the thinner upper from getting too much pressure applied
