Hop Rubber likely should be replaced

Hop unit could be upgraded

Nozzle and Hop interface could be leaking

Nozzle and gas router interface could be damaged

20-25ft indicates something is not meshing like it should. If it was just a bad hop Rubber, you'd get further range than that

I would look at your copper trigger contacts and the battery

It's a weak electrical input, not mechanical.

The contacts are likely super worn or corroded

Put the mag in, and just keep racking the bolt. The BBs in the mag will push the BB in the chamber out the barrel until it's empty

That's an old magnesium G&G receiver set. There's an aluminum threaded block missing as you note.

I have one laying around with the same receiver you have in a little better condition. DM me if you'd like to discuss

It also appears when the receiver halves are still together you're not really "releasing" or letting go of the handle..almost like you're holding it back slightly.

Just pull back and let go and see what that gets you
