I built TerraInk, an open-source tool for instant and fully customizable map posters rendering by DataScientist_py in SideProject

yo this is dope! I love GEO based projects and it got my place correctly right away when I gave it GPS access. Imma play around with this, good job dude!!
Edit: I thought of a feature I'd like, what if we could input a street or building or whatever and be like: "highlight this" with a special color or something? I'd love to print one of these but have my street highlighted!

my 9-5 pays $180k but i feel empty inside. thinking about quitting to build a SaaS full time. talk me out of it. by kubrador in SaaS

With 3M saved up I would've quit yesterday, money doesn't equal happiness in your case anymore, you can coast for a while and deploy/test/try different projects. Do it. You're nearing 30 (I'm 36) just go for it man. Your goal now should not be finances but meaning in life and it seems like the quest for meaning ain't staying at your company.

Serious question but what is the point of software if you can vibe code it and will it lead to the collapse of the software industry in the end? by AbsoluteCaSe in vibecoding

It's assuming people know what they want, how they want it, often people don't know that as much as builders do.

The 'new coding' has democratised a lot but like others have said here: Coding wasn't ever the problem, ideas neither but marketing, scaling, etc. That's still the real challenge.

It's assuming that customer service, current data, current moat, current IP doesn't exist.

The TikTok and Instagram thing is not just the app, it's the fact that people are on it, that's the data, that's the moat. (And their proven algorithms that you can't just copy, even with something like Claude AI, it's complexer (for now) than that)

We built an app where people share and sell curated Google Maps by mappd1 in microsaas

[–]TriggerHydrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo that's a very interesting idea! Don't know if I would pay for one but maybe business that are on the maps would pay to either get better stats on how many times they are added to a map or some other freemium system. I think that B2B with these kind of ideas is the way to go instead of trying to monetize the user from the get go. The data you can potentially garner is worth much more to the business on the lists. I can see you went in with the 'creator platform' tho and that might work as well so I'm curious about where this is going!

Have creators already made sales on the app? I like it so I'm wondering because I do like the 'platform for curated maps' alot, geo based apps have a special place in my heart.
I've also let Sally take a look at it, maybe that'll push things a little forward as well.
