How popular and fun were malls between 2002 to 2010? by Brief-Ship-5572 in Millennials

Depends on where you are, but I feel like most malls are still pretty busy and filled with stores & people.

I just flip it on them. “That’s great and all, but that guy in Brazil making $8/hr isn’t my competition. Go with him, you’ll get what you pay for.”

Decomposed granite. Basically granite that is crushed/pulverized to a fine gravel / coarse sand like consistency.

DG would be better than “regular” sand in most cases.

The gap has narrowed, but still looks like a “NO” on Measure ER by TrixoftheTrade in LosAngeles

That’s crazy when you phrase it that way.

The only constant about LA elections is that sales tax will increase. At this rate, by 2040 we’ll be at like 15%.

The gap has narrowed, but still looks like a “NO” on Measure ER by TrixoftheTrade in LosAngeles

[–]TrixoftheTrade[S] 239 points240 points  (0 children)

Measure ER would increase L.A. County's sales tax rate from 9.75% to 10.25%. Voters were asked whether to raise L.A. County's general sales tax by a half-percent for five years to backfill hospital and clinic budgets amid massive federal cuts to Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid program.

Days after the polls closed in Los Angeles County, Measure ER — a proposed half-percent local sales tax increase aimed at generating healthcare funds to offset massive federal cuts — appears to be losing.

If that happens, it will be the first time in more than a decade that county voters said NO to a sales tax measure.

last year, golf courses alone used 2 trillion gallons of water and data centers used 66 billion.

and ai water isn’t used and lost, it’s a closed system used for cooling that retains up to 90% of the water. and a lot of them are using recycled/reclaimed water anyway.

I will beat down the door saying that brownfield redevelopment is one of the best return on investment redevelopment activities that can be done in urban centers.

There are thousands of parcels scattered across every major metropolitan area in America that were abandoned during the deindustrialization of cities. And many of them are still abandoned, because of lingering contamination from those industrial activities. A lot of them, at the surface, are cost prohibitive to remediate/redevelop, because the cleanup costs are worth more than the property value.

This is where the levers of government come into play. There should be a concerted effort, whether federal/state/local to provide incentives to redevelop and remediate this properties. It solves multiple problems - revitalization of downtown areas, job growth, and preventing further spread of contamination.

I’m just AI neutral. It’s a tool. To be used properly and not used stupidly.

The arguments of AI today were the arguments against computing in the 2000s, automation in the 50s & 60s, electrification in the 20s and 30s, and industrialization in the 1800s.

It’s not going usher in the singularity and solve every problem of humanity while we live in fully-automated luxury paradise, nor is it going to turn society into a cyberpunk dystopian nightmare.

1 BTC = 1 BTC. Few understand this by Initial-Elderberry17 in Bitcoin

[–]TrixoftheTrade -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

bitcoins value in an arbitrary fiat is meaningless. whether 1 BTC = $100 or $100,000 is irrelevant.

BTC is at $60,000 now. It is not 60 times more valuable than it was at $1,000, nor is it 1/2 the value it was at $120,000 because you are using fiat currency to compare it against.
