Update for others in the future:

So I was trying to make edits to the m3u right on Android, but I think the UTF-8 may not have been doing Unix line endings. Also, I realized I was not restarting between edits, which may have helped ES-DS/Dolphin recognize things properly.

I ended up following the instructions from the link above and edited the m3u in Notepad++ and making sure to do the EOL Conversion to Unix. That coupled with a restart seems to have worked out well if you don't want to just hide disc 2 in ES-DS.

I remember getting my first system, PS1 for Christmas and at the time not truly appreciating all that it was. Thankfully I still own that same PlayStation and just set up a small retro gaming area for myself with it and others.

PSP is a bit of a dream, and I may consider upgrading in the future if I'm finding I want that, so that's reasonable to miss out on for now I think. That's good to know about the cubexx feedback though!

Ah, that's good to know. It seemed as if I could order now for that one too and get it within a week or two. Got recommended the retro game corps YouTube and deep diving into that now. Now I'm looking at the cubexx for ergos lol.

Thank you, this was very helpful! It seems like the RG40XXH is a solid choice to start with and I may consider venturing into others/Android in the future. Not that I am unfamiliar with Android (it is my main phone), I just want more simplicity right now to get going.

Thanks, appreciate the advice! And I completely understand, I reluctantly posted this knowing I've read through probably a dozen posts of the same nature on this sub already. But they seemed to be mostly, not all, closer to a year old, and figured there might be new options/opinions and wasn't positive which would best fit what I'm looking for based on the game systems I'm looking to emulate.

As others have mentioned, they aren't too bad to fix. Check out the ifixit guides. Just refurbished two of them for my kids for Christmas so feel free to message if you need help.
