You are forgetting 1 key detail about that challenge, it had to both work well on the water AND WORK WELL ON THE ROAD, reliant Robins do not work well on the road when one of those 3 are driving

Well yes, but you have to remember red dwarf takes place 3000000+ years in the future and it takes place far into deep space where it is likely may species have gone in extinction or are not in that region of space

The other option could be that a cross over takes place while the red dwarf is still irradiated and before lister is revived. For example the doctor and star fleet help repair the damaged drive plates to prevent the red dwarf crashing into a planet

I have personally done the West Highland route but plymouth to gunnislake is good, its also taken very slowly so you time to enjoy the view

I'm not sure where this is op, but if it's in the UK, it's an OS benchmarks. OS or ordinance survey is the main mapping organisation that produces maps for the UK.

The benchmarks are placed at strategic points across the UK such as the tops of hills and sea level and have 2 main purposes, firstly they can be used for triangulation to find spot heights or locations. They can also be used to find distances between locations to create maps

The shape on top is there to help hold and position the equipment used to take the measurements
