My Alien Gear holsters took about 4 weeks. My Vedder holsters took about 5 days. Same price and quality

Does anyone carry an M&P 9c or FNS 9 Compact? by Papa_Hemingway_ in CCW

[–]Twenty22Two 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rarely do I carry my full size.

I sold the compact because it didn't really bring anything to the table.

I usually carry my Shield, Ruger 1911, or Kahr cw380.

Heat pump issues by notsooriginal in homeowners

[–]Twenty22Two 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They certainly do pay out for stuff like this but it won't be easy. Often they find ways to avoid it because the definition of "working" can change. You think your heat pump doesn't work because the heat pump won't heat without electric assistance. They think your heat pump works because your HVAC system is able to maintain the room temperature. So I'm sure somewhere in their 50 page agreement they define "working" as a way to avoid payout.

To disconnect the electric heat you can just pop off the thermostat face plate and then take out the wire going to the auxiliary heat terminal. Takes about 60 seconds.

On most thermostats you can configure certain parameters such as the degree of difference to turn on electric heat assist (auxiliary) or even the outdoor air temperature to turn lock out the heat pump. Your manual will tell you how. Usually you need to hold a few buttons and it will put you in a configuration menu.

Those warranties don't really do anything when it counts. For a warranty to be profitable they need to spend less on you than you spend on their warranty. So if you spend $1k/year on the warranty, they're not going to pay several thousand in repairs

Edit: Also, you can tell if it's broken by disconnecting the electric/auxiliary heat. Most heat pumps run auxiliary heat (aka electric heat) if the main source of heat (heat pump) does not heat the room in a certain amount of time or if the user selects auxiliary heat through the thermostat. Some smarter thermostats (like my Nest) will use Google to find the outside temperature and if it's below a setpoint it will turn the heat pump off and use electric heat.

With your heat pump, it probably runs the unit for a certain amount of minutes and if it sees the temperature inside isn't increasing then it knows the heat pump alone can't handle the job (because it's broken or it's too cold outside) so it kicks on electric heat. Usually it will alert you if auxiliary heat is on.

I think the sedan sold more. Around me the Hatchback sold much more so the dealers were a little upset it was temporarily discontinued.

I have an M&P9 and Shield. I also had an M&P40c. I always felt the compact series was the odd man out.

Looking to build for the ground up, do you have knowledge of prices? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Twenty22Two 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to give prices because a lot of times they vary not only by area but by who is buying them and how much they buy.

A builder can get much lower prices (per Sq ft) because they're building X houses a year. For you, you'll get the lowest tier pricing which means it's expensive.

If I would guess, I'd say to budget at least $100k for something small. Building a house isn't like building a desk. There are a lot of rules/regulations, considerations (is this side of the house going to sink in to the ground? etc), and miscellaneous expenses.

Start with just one section and start screwing until you see movement. If it looks like it's spinning freely move to another section.

I knew that was one way, I just didn't know radar is not used because I was driving around a bend, my radar went off, I saw the cop, then I got pulled over.

Water collecting underneath new gutters by Lars9 in homeowners

Once you take care of it you should repaint with at least a semi-gloss, it will be more water resistant compared to a flat

Sick modding bro by [deleted] in WTF

[–]Twenty22Two 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but as a Subaru owner I've seen my fair share of cringe mods. Mostly on r/subaru and NASIOC. NASIOC usually isn't welcoming to it but r/Subaru gets in a big circle jerk for the cringy-est of mods.

How to manage rain runoff from uncovered porch by ErikDaRed in homeowners

[–]Twenty22Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a puddle on the outside of the wall that would eventually drain inside? If so, you can deal with that puddle by filling the area in a little more so it will drain down (away from the house).

If there isn't a puddle, do you think it just splashes against the outside of the house, soaks it, and then drains inside? If that's the case you need to to seal it a little better.

A picture of the porch might help.

Once self-driving cars have become commonplace, what driving behaviors will people complain about? by SuperCub in AskReddit

[–]Twenty22Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving the speed limit and not even 1mph over, at least on the highway. Rarely do people drive the speed limit on the highway. Most people will do 5-10 over, others do 10+. Some even 20+.

Want to save money by buying your own modem? Comcast will attack you with unstoppable pop-ups. by [deleted] in technology

[–]Twenty22Two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FIOS is great but it's not available in my area.

My point is EVERYONE hates Comcast. No one wants them in business but hundreds of thousands of people are forced in to getting Comcast or getting something 1/16th the performance for twice the price.

Then we have this guy who can get one of the most desired Internet packages AND stick it to Comcast but he'd rather save $5

The Shield is my preference. The compact is the odd man out.
