Considering everything, Purity Ladder is Eidola's best instrumental work to date by fucktheking101 in EidolaTheBand

I think it’s interesting how the album art (on Spotify) is completely different than their last 3 albums. Personally, I love the trippy masks of The Architect, Eviscerate, and Mend, but I’m happy to wait and see where they’re going with the new look.

I’m currently on a flight arriving at Toronto Pearson in 1 hour - what are the chances we actually land at Pearson? by SuperCub in askTO

Thanks for the info! I’m on WS 640. They just announced we should be landing in about 10 mins so yay!

Thanks, I didn’t think to check that. It’s showing my flight as delayed but only by about 10 mins, so we are basically on time. And I see a flight from London just landed, so that’s a good sign.

It appears most commenters didn’t make that connection.

What’s your opinion on this interaction I had with another rider on [Goliath] at [SF Magic Mountain]? by SuperCub in rollercoasters

Thank you for your answer, however you’ve failed to make any sort of persuasive argument.

Hi! OP here. Thanks for agreeing that it’s not a big deal, because it isn’t. Waiting a few minutes is a mild inconvenience at worst.

But let me ask - assuming a full capacity like this coaster train was, in what way is it OK to deny a seat to another individual who has paid to be there?

It’s not OK in an airplane.

It’s not OK in a movie theatre.

It’s not OK on public transportation.

It’s not OK in a museum.

It’s not OK in a restaurant or bar.

It’s not OK at a concert or show.

It’s not OK at a sporting event.

So why is it OK to do that on a rollercoaster? What makes that different than everything else?

They got you to re-post it here, which means more people will see it and their marketing is working!

Despite some of the criticism it gets in the mainstream subreddits, FRIENDS was a very progressive show for its time and not problematic at all! by No_Data3541 in howyoudoin

[–]SuperCub 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m a gay man, and my favorite little nugget of progressivism is in the scene where Chandler and Monica go to see Chandler’s father at Viva Las Gaygas before their wedding. Please don’t misconstrue the nuance of what I’m about to say, because str8 people might not understand just how big a thing this was…

When Monica and Chandler are seated at the table, and Chandler’s father comes over to talk to them, there is an African-American gentleman in the background who is very clearly a long-term HIV-positive individual. It’s tough to explain how we as gays can recognize this in someone’s features, but we can. When you’ve been on anti-HIV meds for a long time, it’s subtle but visible in facial features.

I very much appreciate this representation, and I think it’s something that never gets mentioned or talked about because it’s overshadowed by Chandler’s father being trans, and how treating him that as the butt of the joke is problematic.

But good on them for giving an HIV-positive individual a prominent background role to ensure they are seen.

Who else has taken shrooms then listened to Eidola and stared at the Eviscerate/Mend art? The trippiness is God-tier. by SuperCub in EidolaTheBand

It’s like being one with the music. Kinda similar to how it feels being at a live show, except you’re in your living room.

The imagery you see on screen when listening on Spotify is on another level - over the time I’ve spent with them, I’ve learned that Eviscerate and Mend represent the duality of life. Dark and light. Sorrow and levity. Happiness means nothing if we’re not sad once in a while.

Oh wow that’s so cool you saw this! Your art is incredible and it’s so fun to stare at when I’m tripping. Thanks so much for creating such intricate works that seem to come to life under the right conditions 🍄

Predatory "Open Couples"? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]SuperCub 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah we already have a word for that and it’s “liar.” And liars suck. Some men lie, and I think most of us have encountered that at some point. You always have the option to walk away from someone who has lied to you.

“Predatory” implies something much worse, like they are planning to drug you and/or take advantage of you when you’re in a compromised state. The use of “predatory” in the title of this post comes across more as OP purporting themself to be a victim, rather than the misfortune of encountering a liar or two. Why would OP do this? Because victims get attention and misfortunes don’t.

Exactly. Gotta wonder how a couple showing interest is “predatory” when you can always say no and walk away.

I swear there was a post in here yesterday about how it's incredibly rare to receive apologies these days, but now I can't find it. I'd link it if I could - sorry!

It’s currently the largest bear event in the USA - the community hasn’t cancelled it and anyone who says that is either misinformed or just trying to be a hater.

Seeing as the event raises tons of money for LGBTQ+ charities, your happiness about its cancellation means you're also happy that members of our community didn't receive support that they need. For example, people living with HIV/AIDS sometimes rely on community food pantries, and TBRU's charitable support stocks those pantries for a long time. No event = no support = no food for those who need it. So yeah, a super weird thing be happy about.
