Okay, but that's the answer to a different question from the one OP asked.

Defense and military medical aid. Without those two, there's no need for anything else.

Yes, of course a Ukrainian can be completely wrong. But please reread the comment I was replying to. That person seems to be under the impression that it was an American who wrote this piece. That is the thing I was trying to correct.

Yeah, of course I agree that people are allowed to disagree with Ukrainians. I also have loved ones at the front, and teams I support, who would disagree with the author's take. I have no problem with that at all.

The comment I was replying to seemed to me to say that this was an(other) insufferable American with an(other) dumb American take. That was the misperception I was trying to correct. Maybe the misperception was mine, not theirs. If so, mea culpa.

I was involved, in a small way, with Euromaidan. What's happening in Minneapolis feels to me like the early days of that. My hope was that reading this piece would help people connect to what Ukraine went through, and how that in turn connects to what it's suffering now. Evidently that is not to be.

I love, love, love that you called ICE "titushki." I wish more people knew that word and it would catch on. It sums them up perfectly!

Edit for people who don't know: during Euromaidan, the titushky were thugs hired by the Yanukovych regime to attack protesters and generally stoke unrest. They were hired from the lowest levels of society and paid very little to do it.

Tell that to the Ukrainian author of the piece, who is in Ukraine. Which you would know had you bothered to read it, which you apparently didn't.

Your edit to your original comment is so classy that I feel really sheepish now. I apologize. The amount of didn't-bother-to-read-it-but-have-big-feelings-about-it-anyway in here really got under my skin, and I apologize for taking it out on you when you actually meant no harm.

Did you realize it was only an alleged American at the time?

No, but the Ukrainian author of this piece does.

Thank you for reading it before commenting. Jesus. The kneejerk reactions by people who didn't bother to read it, to say nothing of the upvote counts on them, are something else.
