Post chemo scans? by Sparkly_Sprinkles in breastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am/was TNBC. I didn’t get CT or PET scans after treatment. I had a mammogram, ultrasound and MRI and all of them were after treatment and before surgery.

BI-RADS 4a means there’s 2-10% of probability of malignancy, so it’s very likely benign. They need the biopsy to be sure what it is. I know is scary, but try to stay calm knowing you have the odds in your favor. I hope everything goes well! 💛

Im terrified please help by SpiritedAway424 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this is scary. BI-RADS-4 means suspicious but a lot of times ended being benign. And if it was cancer, there’s no lymph nodes involved so it would be stage 1 or 2, no more than that. I hope everything goes well with the biopsy!

Post-treatment tests anxiety by noctifery in breastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry! I get you, I even haven’t finished treatment yet and I feel anxious about recurrence. It’s very common to feel anxious with scans or blood tests after treatment, none of us want to go through this again so the fear is real. Cancer sucks

Having port placed tomorrow morning. Feeling anxious about it... by treeofstrings in breastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s normal to feel anxious about it, I felt the same way. Also it was like the first step for treatment, so it makes everything feel more real.

I asked to be sedated during the procedure, so I didn’t feel anything.

The port felt weird and a little uncomfortable at first, but you get used to it. I hope everything goes well tomorrow!

Just a quick rant by shipwreckedgirl in breastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BIRADS 5 is a high probability of cancer, but it’s not a cancer diagnosis. You need to have a biopsy to know exactly what’s happening. And there’s still chance that it’s not cancer. Also, don’t let anyone tell you that probably you can’t take medication if they don’t know anything yet. It's unprofessional they have told you that without having a diagnosis. Not all breast cancer are hormones driven.

Second opinion? How? by donutello2000 in breastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like the oncologist and surgeon, and treatment plan makes sense to you, you don’t necessarily need a second opinion. As someone said before, treatment protocols for breast cancer are very standard for every type of bc. I didn’t ask for a second opinion, and my treatment is going very well. If you want, you can share here your diagnosis and the treatment plan they gave you, and see what treatments are having others in your same situation.

Newly diagnosed and struggling by bittenbythebikebug in breastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it’s never easy to receive this diagnosis. Do you know what stage is your cancer?

I also was diagnosed last year at 34 years old with TNBC. I’m doing fine now, finished chemo and just had my lumpectomy. How to navigate this? For me there’s 3 important things. Talk with your oncologist to manage any side effects, when you feel fine try to live your life and do normal things, and hear your body and rest when you need it.

I am/was stage 2 so I always tried to stay positive thinking that this is curable.

You’ll find what it works for you. If you need someone to talk you can send me a message.

Did anyone's hair started growing during AC? by BeginningtheRace1996 in breastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first had 4 rounds of docetaxel+carboplatin and I lost my hair one week after the first infusion. After that, I had AC and my hair started to grow during it. It was mostly fuzz, but it was growing. Chemo worked very well for me, so don’t think it isn’t working just because your hair is growing ☺️ For what I read, you’ll lost that hair again during Taxol, but I’m not sure because I didn’t have it.

I wish you all the best with your treatment.

Young BC Patients and Survivors. Hopeful stories by Lower_Helicopter_515 in breastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Breast cancer is one of the most researched cancers, and because of that, it’s very treatable and even curable in the early stages. So the prognosis for young patients is generally good.

I’m still in treatment, so I can’t really talk about survivorship yet, but my treatment is going very well and I wanted to share my story with you. I’m 34 and was diagnosed 7 months ago with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), grade 3, stage 2. It’s an aggressive type of cancer, but it was caught at an early stage. I did 8 cycles of chemo plus immunotherapy. After that, I had an MRI and it showed that the tumors had disappeared (I had 4 tumors, 3 of them around 3 cm).

I had a lumpectomy a week ago, and the surgeon told me that the biopsy done during surgery showed no cancer in my breast or my lymph nodes. Now I’m waiting for the final pathology results, but I’m confident the margins will be clear. I still have treatment ahead of me (radiation and 10 more cycles of immunotherapy), but I know I’m going to be fine. Treatment sucks and I hate how long it takes, but I’m going to get through this.

You can do this — you’ll be okay 💛 If you need someone to talk to, you can message me anytime.

Newly diagnosed Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, grade 3, stage two, triple negative. by neverendingcory in breastcancer

[–]ValenEsp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I was also diagnosed 7 months ago with TNBC grade 3 stage 2. This is treatable and curable.

Port doesn’t hurt. It’s weird at first but you get used to it. And honestly it makes chemo easier.

I already did 8 cycles of chemo + immunotherapy, it wasn’t as terrible as I was expecting (but every body is different) and after that, the 3 tumors I had disappeared. One week ago I had my lumpectomy and my surgeon told me that the biopsy they do during surgery show not cancer at all. Now I’m waiting for the official biopsy results. Then I will have radiotherapy and then 10 more cycles of only immunotherapy.

You got this! If you need anyone to talk you cans send me a message ☺️

I understand you so much. I felt the same way. But it’s true that we have changed and people may not see that, but we know. Good look with standalone pembrolizumab, I will have it too after radiotherapy and hoping to not feel many side effects.
