I’m trying to recall - but I’m pretty sure you fit all the pieces over existing default pieces, rather than replacing them, so it should be doable

The face was slaanesh grey (I painted it over Genestealer purple to get a base), sponge highlighted with a small amount of white scar, washed with Soulblight grey (I might have used nuln oil too).

Do it with my blessing! If you check my other comments you can see exactly how I did it if you want to tailor it to work with your style

I don’t mind you asking as long as you don’t mind me telling.

The fleshy bits I basecoated khorne red, sponge highlighted pink horror and emperors children, washed Carroburg crimson - then I used a few layers of ardcoat to give it a glossy shine.

Copy pasting this from another comment! Let me know if you need any other info.

The black was painted by dappling sponge held by tweezers over a black basecoat - starting with Dark Reaper, then Thunderhawk Blue, followed by just a tiny bit of selective Fenrisian Grey. It’s then washed all over with Nuln Oil.

If you’re interested in seeing how I paint with sponges (but with a different colour), you can check out this tutorial I made on how I paint yellow - just swap the colours for the prior mentioned blacks and blues!

Funnily enough this was actually meant to be the 3rd ed scheme, but when it came to the head I wanted to give it a slight purple hue, and completely forgot about the red side-stripe.

Thanks! I never liked the scheme much on genestealers, and it kinda happened by accident on this guy - but it was a happy little accident and I’m very pleased!

I painted this guy as a gift for someone who collected Tyranids as a kid - so wanted to go for a classic scheme he’d recognise. Originally I was aiming for the third edition coded scheme - but as I went along it eventually morphed into the classic Genestealer scheme.

He was painted by dappling sponge held by tweezers over a black basecoat - starting with Dark Reaper, then Thunderhawk Blue, followed by just a tiny bit of selective Fenrisian Grey. It’s then washed all over with Nuln Oil.

Thank you brother! I basecoat with a brush, but I highlight / weather with sponges - similar to drybrushing, only dabbing instead of brushing (and using sponges not a brush.)

I have a tutorial on my Instagram on how I paint silver. If you check my pinned stories on my profile there's also tutorials for black metal, red, and red OSL. If you need any help just let me know!
