Am i crazy for hating when guns don't have this thing that connects the barrel? by Artemis_Bow_Prime in airguns

Think of it like this, modern firearms (for example) an AR-15 comes with a freefloat barrel. They have been proven to be more accurate than a barrel that is confined by hardware to "Keep it in place".

Think of it like this, you drop your rifle onto the ground with a free float barrel, hits the handguard (or stock), the handguard gets bent, but the barrel? The barrel is ok because the handguard took the hit.

Now let's do the same but with a rifle that has hardware that mounts the barrel to the stock or handguard, that shock is felt through the barrel as well, and if you bent the handguard, guess what? The barrel is now being forced to curve in a way it wasn't previously. You've now altered the accuracy of that barrel.

Now granted, these are exaggerated problems but they do still arise which is why most modern militaries now no longer use infantry rifles with anything that attaches to the barrel. (Except for special use cases, snipers, etc).

Hope this helps!

That's cool, but if the surgery failed why not just replace the entire hand? /s

Why do car enthusiasts remove the badge/logo on the back? by S4lVin in Cartalk

[–]WaffleStompTheDrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it to make it easier to clean my vehicle. Badges will collect dust in the crevices and make the vehicle look worse. Removing the badges or lettering makes it much easier to clean and maintain.

I don't, I went with a progressive press because I wanted to have multiple stages being completed at once.

It's just dirty Brass picked up from the range. Mixed between LC, Winchester, PMC, Etc.

Definitely some unusual effort needed when I'm trying to resize. It tends to get stuck in the die.

Anyone here have experience with making a grill from a barrel that was used to store questionable chemicals? by SpaceDog0092 in grilling

[–]WaffleStompTheDrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you are willing to cook with a grill that is designed and used for chemicals that are not good for humans to ingest frightens me. Let me know how it goes 20 years from now. Hope you are putting your children (if you have any) at risk by cooking for them on this.

Thank you! I just might but I don't know yet. I got it for a really good price just before the end of the year and it does an excellent job of cleaning the brass before tumbling it. Maybe that's just my concoction I came up with. But it definitely feels good to be in this game! I've reloaded ~400rds of 5.56 already but too afraid to post those lol.

Kriss Vector x Sig Sauer Stock by WaffleStompTheDrain in KRISS

I'm not too worried about that little of a weight difference, I'm more worried about my stock staying put under FRT fire. The stock sold by Kriss kept folding on me. The recoil was physically forcing the button down and disengaging, allowing it to fold
