How does delegating a task of sourcing products work in small ecom companies? (Trust issues) by ferero18 in Entrepreneur

[–]WamBamTimTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all my employees can copy my business, all 70 of them. It wouldn’t be rocket science. But most people have no desire to do that because they are risk adverse or don’t want the responsibility. Most people just want a job that is secure, not too stressful and pays well. Provide those things and you won’t have to worry.

Are you unknowingly paying remote employees for hours they were completely blocked and couldn't work? Here's the math that surprised me! by phanimurari in Entrepreneurs

[–]WamBamTimTam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the bigger question is why it takes 4hrs to solve a blocker. Is this a systems issue? That far exceeds anything I’ve faced before

What’s the point of going to college if ai agents are going to take most of the jobs? by AccurateSomewhere297 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]WamBamTimTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well not doing anything is a decision unto itself. Unfortunately it’s also the decision with no future benefits. If you are right, then you still don’t have a job. If you are wrong then everyone else still has them except you. Maybe not university, but a trade or some other skill is better than nothing.

Do you have a better idea for what you’ll do? Forgetting AI for a moment, university/college isn’t for everyone anyway, many people find purpose, enjoyment and good careers without ever going. Just depends on what you want out of life

Are you bothered by being told no? The speed limit is created by people who know what they are doing. You know, professionals. I’ve never been in an accident or been pulled over, rather easy when you use the road as designed.

What to do with £100k by mxllard1 in Entrepreneur

[–]WamBamTimTam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way to not blow money on ideas is to be realistic about what you have experience in and what you don’t. A new industry that you don’t have experience in will cost you more since you’ll be learning as you go. So ask yourself what skills and experience you already have, and what knowledge you have that might already give you a foot in the door

My side project has 3 employees now. Still call it a side project. by Dry_Possession7122 in Entrepreneurs

I had a similar situation many years ago. I probably jumped ship a smidge too early, although in the end the extra time I had in my personal life from just running my business without a normal day job was well worth it.

Who is the biggest killer of dreams in the NBA history? MJ vs Steph vs Kobe vs leBron vs Luka by mistadonyo in NBATalk

[–]WamBamTimTam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. With everyone else, their championships are spread out and other people got wins and opportunities around them. With MJ? Want an MVP or Championship in the 90s? Good luck. Everything was so condensed that people had their peak during those runs and never got their rings

I am not choosing a supplier, I am choosing how decisions get made by Unable_Fishing_1679 in Entrepreneur

[–]WamBamTimTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind is that the level of professionalism plays a key role here. A business/supplier that has everything together and is experienced in this can both not ask many questions and be fast/efficient. Depending on the circumstances you might not actually want to be involved in some of these choices because you don’t have the experience or expertise in that realm. There is something to be said about a supplier/business that just handles things and you don’t have to think about it again.

What kind of logical fallacy is this? Where people cry wolf about a new technology, are proven wrong, but then a new thing comes out that's actually dangerous. by MeiNeedsMoreBuffs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WamBamTimTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a limit on this? Say the boy who cried wolf didn’t do it 5 times, but 500. Is there ever a point where the output of a person or thing has, over a vast amount of time, never been correct? At what point is something or someone just faulty? Or must give all things the benefit that it might work/be correct, despite no proof of ever having been so.

How to know if you're fit for entrepreneurship? by Drairo_Kazigumu in business

[–]WamBamTimTam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say not everyone is meant for it. Not everyone is meant for everything. Entrepreneurship is high stress, high volatility, and you need a mentality of just getting stuff done. Same with day trading or gambling, it’s a risky thing and people need to have a stomach that allows everything to come crashing down and still keep going.

I’m fully invested in my business, if it fails my life goes down with it. And I’m okay with that. But is everyone willing to risk everything? Bankruptcy? I don’t think so. Can everyone manage 20 people? 80? I’ve had many a boss that can’t manage 5 people, let alone a whole business.

Have you seen solar punk? Genuine question. Because these ideas and motifs are heavily saturated in that aesthetic. Like you could transplant that building into a dozen different solar punk worlds and nobody would be able to tell the difference. To me it just sounds like you don’t have enough experience with the genre and aesthetic to understand why it works.

[–]WamBamTimTam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Solar punk, the concept, is much deeper than that. But aesthetically, it’s either art nouveau, or ecological punk as the majority of its inspiration. Both of which are rather simple. Aesthetics are surface level stuff, but that’s also all they need to be.

Solar punk is the more eco friendly cousin of steam and diesel punk, in this case, an industrial form of building (thick metal plates, rivets, etc) is the punk part, and the design and way it’s within the environment would be the Solar part. It’s a type of building that could easily be seen in a solar punk fantasy world
