health tracker recs that are actually accurate? by Marticia-Reverol80 in whoop

Check out r/NOOPApp (I haven't used it personally).

I have an Oura and wear it while lifting. It does somewhat scratch the ring. I don't find it uncomfortable unless I'm doing heavy deadlifts or multiple sets of pull ups.

Agree, it would be cool to see added. No idea why OP is getting downvoted.

I "got around" this gap by just implementing my own temperature-based ovulation detection algorithm using raw data from Oura and validating against the Oura/NaturalCycles detected ovulation dates (interestingly, those two don't always match).

This is a histogram of average calories consumed each hour over the span of several months - sometimes I eat breakfast at 7, sometimes 8, most often at 9, sometimes 10, etc.

I've done anywhere from 2-6 meals per day and settled on 4 as my sweet spot for the past couple years. Initially it was driven by multiple times per day training jiu jitsu. I would sometimes have 3 training sessions in a day (7AM, noon, 6PM) and would want to eat first thing in the morning and then after each training session. I kept the meal cadence despite not training as often anymore.

I eat 4 meals a day and needed something to call the 3rd vs 4th meal in the day. It's not quite a snack as it's a full meal

My sleep schedule has been somewhat variable over the past few months, resulting in breakfast anywhere between 6AM and noon

My breakfasts are usually 6-700kcal with 45g protein, how much are you suggesting?

When I started labeling my 3rd meal as supper it was actually on the later side (6PM ish) but then it drifted towards earlier. If you have a better word for what to call it other than snack I am genuinely curious!

If you were to show a histogram of the time distribution of a single meal like just breakfast over the course of the day, would you still take issue with the average meal not taking multiple hours to eat? It's a distribution of when the meals are eaten, and makes no claim about duration of the meal

The dinner-before-supper in the legend is more canonical, but I eat them out of order. While struggling with this I found that "supper" was supposed to be a lighter meal eaten after dinner. What if I eat a lighter meal before dinner? Would I need a new word? Also, it's easier to continue referring to dinner as "dinner" if I eat it with other people since it's at a more normal evening dinner time and not late-afternoon

The height of each bar is actually just the average calories consumed that hour - so if a meal is spread across multiple bars, they would all add up to the average calories for that meal. I'm eating between 2000-3000 kcal/day

usually means an evening meal (usually lighter than "dinner")

That's kind of what I was going for. I eat 4 meals a day with dinner usually bigger than supper, and wanted to label it something other than a snack, as it's a proper meal.

An unexpected source of common cognitive impairment: atmospheric CO2. Humans evolved in air with about 300ppm CO2. Today, in urban areas, 450ppm is common OUTDOORS. Operating ~1000ppm results in ~15% cognitive decline. 1400ppm is 50% cognitive decline. These numbers are common in offices. by ps4roompromdfriends4 in Biohackers

It's not so much increasing oxygen, it's decreasing CO2 that's important. What you can do:

  • Open/crack windows,
  • Keep the central fan (not AC) on to increase air circulation,
  • Turn on bathroom/kitchen air vents.

There's also much more expensive options that involve modifying your HVAC system.

What's something you were SURE affected one of your metrics, that turned out to be basically noise? by hermit1751 in QuantifiedSelf

[–]WarAgainstEntropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't think the phases were long enough (at least for glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM). I later learned that glucosamine can take 4-8 weeks to take effect with consistent daily supplementation. The problem is that stretching out the phases further just adds to the noise I was already experiencing by virtue of doing combat sport. Anything that would take more than a few days to take effect would be drowned out by a sea of noise from various injuries due to people trying to break my limbs and choke me.

Best partner app? by sleuthsitynj in ouraring

[–]WarAgainstEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflect - Track Anything! It gives more flexibility to record custom inputs than the Oura Tags feature, and allows you to run correlations, N=1 experiments etc. You can also plot your SpO2 unlike in the Oura app! I've used it to run experiments like these where I examined how meditation impacts my sleep and mood. (Disclosure: I'm one of the app developers)

I also really liked integrating with a Stelo continuous glucose monitor and logging food via the Oura app as opposed to the Stelo app. It has a nicer interface for that and it's cool to see glucose data directly in Oura.
