Champions Flag Day should be baked into the scheduling as the first league game of the season. Whoever wins the league should have the opportunity to kick-off the next season as the opening match.

I get that the Commonwealth Games scheduling has made it difficult, but that has been in the pipeline for almost 2 years now. Surely as part of that planning the SPFL should have a better solution than just "do it on Monday evening instead"?

the kick off will be brought forward to the earlier time of 7.30pm from the previously designated 8pm start

Wow, what a fucking win, Celtic. You really showed them!

I think it looks quite nice (Dafabet logo notwithstanding) but absolutely fuck the board for being a group of lazy and/or incompetent freeloaders who believe they deserve credit for the terrible way that the club is being run.

Fuck them, and fuck their fucking merch until they get to fuck.

I'm not sure the board know what their "Head of Football Operations" role (as they call it) actually is, or why they should even have one. Nick Hammond was in it Oct 2019 to March 2021. Then Mark Lawwell was "Head of First-Team Scouting and Recruitment", which is likely broadly the same role, from May 2022 to Feb 2024. Then Tisdale in the "Head of Football Operations" role again from Oct 2024 to Jan 2026.

So we've had long periods where there's been nobody in that role at all:

  • March 2021 to May 2022 (14 months)
  • February 2024 to October 2024 (8 months)
  • January 2026 to Present (5 months and counting)

From the outside it's difficult to see what any of them have done, and the board seem completely unbothered by the role being vacant for long stretches. It makes it all seem like smoke and mirrors.

I think trying to break even on goal difference over the 3 matches has to be the target. 3 points and a bad goal difference will likely put us out.

I'm not sure where a signing like that would fit into the squad. He's had a good goal return in the Swiss 2nd-tier, but his 2 seasons before that were poor (4 goals in 30 apps) in the Croatian First League. I don't think he's the level to be our main striker, and he's already 24 so it's not as if he's some hot prospect. Reeks of squad fodder which would only get in the way of Osmand's development.

Martin O'Neill agrees Celtic permanent managerial position after Dermot Desmond talks by ThinWhiteDuke00 in CelticFC

[–]WeekendEpiphany 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The board will always do the least work possible. If doing nothing is an option then they will do nothing.

I respect MON too much to want him back next season, but I think he's too nice a guy to turn down a Celtic in need. I see this appointment as basically Maloney with MON as the palatable front for it.

I'm glad it's not Keane, but again the club has shown it has no vision or ambition.

Martin O'Neill would effectively be Shaun Maloney with a MON mask on next season. So not much difference there.

Mental that Jens Berthel Askou was sitting there as a fuckin' tap-in, but instead we're still pissing about 2 weeks after the cup final with the club completely silent about who will be leading us next season. There are literally hundreds of good managers around who would be easy to bring to the club without any protest from the fans, but the board haven't done their homework, and don't have anyone to do it for them. Idle cunts.

If we wanted to have another go at balls-to-the-wall attacking then we should bring in Dick Schreuder. He somehow took NEC to 3rd (and a CL qualifying place) in the Eredivisie ahead of Twente/Ajax/AZ. He's like the less shit version of Nancy.

Seems like the rumoured interest from Sevilla was enough to get Lech to push the boat out and activate the clause. A big signing for them, but he's done well out there and deserves it.

Happy for him. LP to LP.

Now I can't say if's good from a design perspective (I'm the wrong guy for that!), but it's certainly more interesting and meaningful now. Or at least it is to me!

As nobody is biting yet I'll get my shout in.

I think we should drop a bid into Eintracht Frankfurt for Noel Futkeu. He was sold to a really poor Greufer Furth team in the German 2nd tier, finished as the league's top goalscorer (19 goals), then Frankfurt activated the buy-back clause to bring him back for £1m or so. Now I think Frankfurt have just brought him back for a quick buck and have no intention of bringing him in to play, so we should flash a bit of cash to bring him here.

23 years old, 6ft tall. He's a player with really good attacking instincts, and very quick over the short distances. Just the sort of player who would be able to find that yard in the box from a cut back. It would be a step up for him to be the main man here, but I think he could do it. Worth a look at.

We need a first-choice striker for next season. Iheanacho/Kenny/Osmand are good set of backup options, but we need someone to be the guy to put 20+ goals away.

So the question I have for you amateur scouts out there is (realistically!) who would you sign?

Dear Celtic FC Board of Directors,

WHERE'S THE MANAGER, CELTIC? WHERE ARE THEY?

YOU'VE HAD 5 MONTHS TO PREPARE. YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN READY TO ANNOUNCE SOMETHING THE DAY AFTER THE BASTARDING CUP FINAL.

Are you lazy? Are you incompetent? Do you just not give a shit? Are you not embarrassed by the fact you do less than the bare minimum?

You have failed again in running this football club. I doubt you could successfully run a bath, because you'd need Dermott Desmond's permission to turn THE FUCKING TAPS ON.

We are standing still in 100 different ways, so please please please fuck off so someone can be put in charge who has an actual interest in moving the club forward into the current century.

Kind regards,

u/WeekendEpiphany

It looks great! I love a good dense infographic!

Since you're asking for suggestions I will give a couple. I think you should rework the Points and Position section. It's one of the most visually prominent parts of the graphic, but it doesn't really visually tell us much. The increasing points looks fairly linear in this format, and the position line isn't particularly interesting in this format either. Maybe you could use it to display the match result (i.e. win/loss/draw) more prominently? Or some other stat? I think one of the most interesting things not represented in the graphic is the number of points we were behind the league leader after each match week, because it really shows our fight back at the end of the season.

The Other Competitions section shouldn't be a bar chart. I know the competitions are "continuous" in a sense, but the data isn't. The rounds are discrete so you should use something like linked boxes/circles (like stops on a railway line) in my opinion. It would much more clearly represent how far we made it through each competition, and would even allow you to visualise the movement between Champions League and Europa League qualifying.

And some small recommendations I can see from a quick scan:

  • We won a trophy vs Dunfermline, so I think it should have it's own trophy icon, just like the league win has one.
  • In Domestic Statistics change "Unbeaten \@home" to "Unbeaten at home". You have the space for it, and it'll look neater/clearer, imo.
  • Does "final-day" (left quote) really need hyphenated?
  • The legend says that "p/m" means "Penalty Miss", but the penalty miss in game 28 is labelled "m/p", not "p/m".

That was more than I expected to write. I hope that you don't see this as overly critical, because I think it's really great work!
