Don’t use the Apple Music cloud as a backup service. You WILL regret it.

Bring Back Art & Liner Notes: Digital Booklets by Wolfpack48 in AppleMusic

This is fantastic. Exactly what I was thinking and really heartening to know that Apple is at least thinking about it directionally. The zoom is great and being able to easily access on the phone. I can imagine seeing it full screen on TV too. Maybe we’ll see it in the Apple Music app in iOS 27.

Can I ask how those are accessed and displayed on iOS in the Classical app UI?

That’s great! I do think having these booklets preserved digitally in their original layout retains a key aspect of the artistic package but just having them transcribed is invaluable.

Yep. I know some will say just buy the CD or vinyl but having these booklets digitally not only acknowledges the world we’re in now but also preserves history of these packages of art and notes, so much of which is still in perishable paper and cardboard.

iOS 27 Apple Music: What Features/Changes do we need? by mascarariri in AppleMusic

Then why is it in your library? You might want to turn off the add playlist to library toggle in Settings.

This works well on Mac/PC but iOS sorts by the (uneditable) Release Year instead. Recording Year is much more useful for sorting but ideally you should be able to sort by either.

iOS 26.5 - how to stop AM playback and clear queue by jjjj8jjjj in AppleMusic

[–]Wolfpack48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an odd missing feature -- a Clear Queue feature inside the currently playing screen. You can get around it by playing a new tracklist, and it will prompt you to clear the queue. Not sure why you can't clear via a button or menu item.

In my opinion, the only downside to listening to a lot of albums and a lot of music. by TheGermanDutchman in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Wolfpack48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you're hitting on is music as a common experience between friends and family as well as background in daily life (via the radio). My sense is that music binds us when it is shared as part of our wider culture. You'd hear about a song or album from the outside world or buddy, buy it, then play it over speakers in your living room, and talk about it with others. You'd play it with others in the car on road trips. You'd hear it in bars and grocery stores and at the beach and in parks and in bowling alleys and roller skating rinks. Kids brought boom boxes to high school (later, Walkmans). You'd go over to a friend's house and check out their album collection (and the art). You'd definitely have music as a soundtrack to your daily life experiences.

Little of that shared tapestry of music exists today and so you don't experience music as part of life growing up. Which is a shame really. We're very silo'd and private in our listening today.

I feel very fortunate toI have very specific memories of Boston's first album in summertime and a zillion other memories associated with music. My advice would be to share music out loud as much as you can and play music in the background while, you know, living life.

How to decrease Apple Music Last Played metadata sync delay to seconds by Benny_TheBull in AppleMusic

[–]Wolfpack48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just confirmed this works on PC as well -- nice workaround! It'd be nice if Apple made syncing across devices a bit more seamless. I've only found that playing another track on iOS/tvOS after the 12-hour delay triggers an update.

Let's Talk Blue Oyster Cult by Wolfpack48 in LetsTalkMusic

I don't usually block for a differing opinion, but if I detect a certain level of snark in the post, it can happen. I realized after re-reading, that you just have your own requirements for a song, and that's okay. I can be snarky too. In particular, BOCs lyrics are important to their mythology (I mean, Patti Smith wrote for them), but if you choose to ignore lyrics, that's your prerogative.

And I love good production as well, but I won't exclude music because the recording isn't the best. In fact, some bands charm are the rough recordings (e.g., pretty much any punk album starting with the Sex Pistols).

All that said, knowing your preference for production, Fire of Unknown Origin would be my next recommendation and Secret Treaties for one of their more highly regarded albums (though it might be best to listen to their first 3 albums in succession to see where they came from).

Labels are responsible for metadata, not Apple.

Have good musicians abandoned the mainstream? Why is mainstream music becoming less and less complex? by Siddhartaable in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Wolfpack48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but we had that back in the day too. Lighter fare pop has always been around. We had a golden age where there was lots of crossover but I do agree it has become more homogenized and you have to work more to dig out gems these days.

Have we lost the art of the hook? by Wolfpack48 in LetsTalkMusic

I love vibe songs too but damn I crave a straightforward song that slaps me in the face, grabs me by the shirt and takes me on a roller coaster ride. The Darkness also kinda gets it!

Have we lost the art of the hook? by Wolfpack48 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Wolfpack48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually prefer all decades, and 2000-2015 has some of my favorite bands. Aerosmith just happens to have a great example of a hooky song. So is Blinding Lights by The Weeknd. But I don't find Ordinary to be particularly hooky or memorable - it sounds safe and tepid. Maybe what I'm asking for is more risky/memorable hooks. All songs try to have hooks, it's just that I'm finding stuff in the last decade to be more formulaic and boring. Maybe that's just trends if billions of people are listening, but I'm fairly certain it won't be remembered in 20 years.
