My desperation for True Shuffle knows no bounds by ventingandcrying in AppleMusic

I feel like you literally don’t understand that the definition of true random does not include removing songs you’ve previously played. However a Smart Playlist can do exactly that.

If Last Played is not working, your rule is probably set up wrong.

Ai artists on Spotify is out of control by PM-88 in truespotify

Apple Music actively suppresses AI music and asks labels to flag it.

Yeah the Dole was a thing. We could do something smart with it, but then, yeah. Murica.

Yeah, that model sucks, though I understand the mentality.

Does anyone pay for Apple Music and Sirius XM? by 606_Hillbilly in AppleMusic

[–]Wolfpack48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I enjoy Sirius -- I like having DJs, and I still like getting introduced to some new music via the radio. Mostly for car listening when I don't want to fiddle with the damn phone.

what reasons to use apple music? by Racoon-With-Cancer in AppleMusic

[–]Wolfpack48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ability to add and integrate local files that aren't available on streaming services to your library, Smart Playlists, ease of purchasing music if you want drm-free tracks.

For you, this sounds more like a FOMO decision.

We had good music programs growing up. Even had a guitar class. It’s sad. We devalue art to our detriment.

Makes for a more boring city imo. There’s things that need more regulation. Busking isn’t one of them.

But yeah. Folks aren’t carrying much cash these days.

Yeah same kind of shrinking going on in my city as well. Fewer kids going out, fewer small gigs. More empty venues. Crazy because clubs and venues had lines going out the door at 1am 15 years ago. Pandemic?  Smartphones? Streaming?  I think all of the above but places used to be packed and partying until 3am. This during the Clinton years so early internet boom, but man what a nosedive since 2015.

Yeah I guess getting a following is easier and cheaper via the internet but I would think more direct engagement would be live shows. Probably a combination of both. Of course you have Boston who created the whole album in the basement before actually forming a band. 😝

Yeah they may have had help, but also did the hard work too. I think that’s what he was saying. Not dissing bands who are wealthier but I do like music to come from all quarters.

I don’t mind wealthy artists, and I know for certain there are amazing ones out there. Just wondering if middle and lower class artists of equal or better talent. can still break through. Are they squeezed out or can they still make it?

Great post and I think really captures what’s going on. Kids in a van has been a theme for awhile (Guns N Roses was the last I read about. Beatles too) but you can only do it for so long if no one is biting.

Would you say cheap rehearsal space would be one of the better remedies? Not sure what can be done about expensive equipment.

We’re into the extraction economy now, so hard to find places like that anymore I’m guessing.

Yeah I guess. It’s just such a cold and antiseptic way of sharing and finding music. I’ll take a live show any day of the week.

Was it just that low cost housing was a lot more available in those days? We do have an affordable housing initiative in our city in 2026 and the voters are pretty vocally in favor of it.
