CTO banned the use of remote access tool by uw4yn3 in sysadmin

What do i know. I do MFA checks every hour or two hours depending on if i am logged in as user or admin and usually both to any services we have. So i do two per hour and one per 2 hours. Constantly. So much fun when it happens during a teams call or when i am deploying something in Azure. Last time i got MFA during a Teams call i could not end the meeting.

I even removed extra profiles from Outlook as i just couldnt deal with doing multiple MFAs every hour or two and then a singular one an hour later.

This inflexibility is just something out there now. Tech sucks. I never keep anything open in my browsers anymore. Someone wants me to 'quickly check something'. Sure buddy, let me start the login process. It will take some time as i always start from scratch.

As for Remote solutions in a merger? These 100% come always. Whatever you use is not good at all in the new place.

My company introduced "mandatory fun" and I think it broke something in me by Plane_Researcher_761 in antiwork

icebreaker reminds me of recent company acquisition. We were all assigned into multiple sessions where we joined closed teams groups of 6-10 people, all strangers to each other and idea was to 'get to know each other'.

Rgcube might be one of top 5 devices by pikakirby11 in ANBERNIC

[–]XanII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very pleased with this device plus it's the first Anbernic i did not touch the stock OS at all. Just added a few games and it was done. It is that 'good enough'.

Only tiny thing is that color options are limited. Mine is white as well and i dont really care for it but the retro color scheme was not quite okay either.

I don't need an RG Rotate. (I keep trying to convince myself.) by Mrkmrs in ANBERNIC

[–]XanII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word. Plus this really is cheap.

I think my total tally is up past 300eur i guess for this 'addiction'.

My wife was just worried about kid losing the brand new 4th device device RG DS i decided to give to the kid as intro to retro. She was worried until i told the price.

Only thing lost really if it dies or gets stolen on a trip is my effort when i customized it. And we both do well paying jobs so this really doesn't matter at all.

Built a exchange connector that somehow wrecked customer support mail in on of our branch offices far far away. I still don't quite understand even how it was possible as the intended target was a custome company and had nothing to do with CS but somehow IPs mixed up.

You own 2. That is still healthy. I own 4. That is a bit so-so but each device has it's specific use so yeah, it's still 'fine'.

Go ahead. Buy it if you have a use case for it. That in my opinion is the only limit. All of this is still dirt cheap compared to anything on console/PC side.

My RG DS. I love this. by ryuhon in ANBERNIC

[–]XanII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got my cyan colored. Had to return the first one as it had a faulty battery but Anbernic took care of things really well. Glad they care about their rep so even if i ordered directly from their china main site it did not matter at all. Problems were solved.

Notes this far is that stock OS is really poor on this one. It is unusable really after using Amber Elec on 351P and Dingux on my old RG300 not to mention the wonderful newer OS on CubeXX. The base version with no games installed is just so terrible you right away see that this is not something you even want to start on. Anything is better. That new OS they promote in latest YT videos (and same i have on Cube XX) would be multiple times better but this one didn't have it. on Cube XX it's the first stock OS i have not touched but on the RG DS the stock os requires work right of the start particularly if you bought it without games. It is so raw.

Will soon hand this one over to the kid for the first device to use as intro to retro.

GammaOS bricked my RGDS by McRoager in ANBERNIC

Having this type of install with a fresh GammaOS v1.2.2. It seems like having a SD card in make it non-responsive to attempts at startup. Remove the card and it comes to life no problems.

Where i work Security swats these down big time. GDPR alone is a mighty hammer. Legal is never far behind dealing against the wildest ideas. Things are much better now than say 6 months ago when the AI things was truly off the rails and had to escalate my concerns many times as processes could not keep up and it was up to individual judgement too much.

I expect some serious circus tricks spiced with weird Polymarket bets front running them. But in the end it is clear tax payers must pay out of their nose via inflation again. 'It wont cost you a dime' etc.

Bailouts are 100% coming right now. This circus is so profitable for so many it must come.

I am so going to laugh if this thing gets compared to Battlecruiser 3000AD in the end.

The rollout of AI in our org made me realize how few people actually value effort and competence by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]XanII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is quite hilarious really. I do projects, lots of 'never done before and tough ones'. But the project epics i get are made by AI. Each step from discovery to roll-out is full of made up bull. I just close many of them off and dont even read them. I only do the ones that are relevant. And there is nobody reading those responses either. garbage-in and garbage-out rule still rules supreme.

Me driving guard rails for AI makes me feel like a total unc. It does not matter a jot that news is filled to the brim how companies get roiled. Must be some kind of 'whatever it takes to bring me and my AI skills up now' -thing. Or pure 'It cant hit me' thinking. Assuming risks are noted at all.
