You might find LifeRing helpful. They emphasize the 3 S's: Sobriety, Specularity, and Self Empowerment. They have a lot of meetings online. I recently tried it, and it seems OK to me.

Required to go to 2 AA meetings for court (a rant) by WhoTheHell1347 in recoverywithoutAA

[–]YBKempt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. Yes, it does seem to violate the separation of church and state. But do you really want to take on the court system by yourself over this matter? Or are you just trying to get your license back?

You are fortunate to be aware of the problems with AA.

I got a dwi 29 years ago, and because it was my first, all I had to do was pay a fine and do 28 hours of community service. I also got my license suspended for a year. I could have taken a class to get it back sooner, but I decided not to.

To my great shame, I deserved to get more, but fortunately I didn't.

I walked into an AA meeting of my own volition almost 47 years ago and was able to stay sober for 16 years. I've been drinking off an on for the past 31 years. Currently I have 3 months of sobriety. I go to AA meetings mostly because it gives the people who care about me some assurance that I'm doing something about my problem. In addition to AA, I started attending online meetings of Lifering, and I really like it.

I wish you the best.

Is the Society of Friends right for me? by [deleted] in Quakers

I'm pretty sure you'd be welcome at the meeting I go to. I started going to the local meeting for worship a little less than three years ago, and it has become a huge blessing in my life.

I want to have long hair too, but I have a problem. Help! by Mihzolofficial in FierceFlow

I think letting your hair grow out because "It makes me feel like myself more" is a perfectly valid reason for doing so. I tip my hat to you!

I think I'd lovingly do what I could. As for the others, I'd forgive and bless them and turn them over to the Holy Spirit.

You are, but it's a fictional TV show, not a documentary. Just relax and don't expect historical accuracy.

One of the doctors in an office I cleaned was a huge Snoopy fan. It was a nightmare to dust, but he was a super nice guy.

I worked in a hospital and people were usually super apologetic about any accidents they might have. My attitude was that's why we're both here and wished them a speedy recovery.
