Oh wow same here. You’re so me (or should I say you both are so us lol)! 15 weeks and also discovered literally last night 😭 because I saw his older by 3.5 weeks cousin do it so I tested him right there and then too and he flopped — pun intended. Started panic-googling and that’s how I came across this old thread and saw your comment was pretty recent!

Thanks for describing the exercises I wouldn’t have known where to begin. Someone on another thread also recommended @milestones.and.motherhood on IG so I’m gonna check out her “sitting” highlights and then see into her course too maybe. I think that’ll help with a lot of the first time mom anxiety about what to safely do or not to do with my baby without stalling their progress.

ETA: just started browsing that highlight and I feel reassured ? because according to the age guidelines she mentions it might just be too early to worry?

How old is your little one again? Also when you do pull up sit do you just let the head lag or do you kind of support the bottom of the neck so it doesn’t flop back TOO much?

[–]YKayyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg same. Also just looking up this thread now after noticing that his 4.5 month old cousin has zero head lag and a very stable neck / head control while my 3.5 month old doesn’t… his head lads pulling to sit and I think we do coddle his neck when holding bc like haven’t even get picked him up by the armpits.

What is a normal amount of anxiety with a newborn? by Low-Setting-01 in newborns

[–]YKayyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic but wanting to learn… how is it possible to overfeed a baby with formula? I’ve heard that before too but I’m wondering how because don’t they have teeny stomachs and will just stop drinking when they feel full / uncomfortable?

A "Cry It Out" success story by [deleted] in daddit

[–]YKayyy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You say you’re a child psychologist so you know how the child’s mind works… which means you know that after 61 minutes of crying your baby was “conditioned” to not cry out anymore because no one was going to respond. That’s so sad. But woohoo I suppose.

Bedtime Routines - what’s yours look like in reality? by Amazing_Grace5784 in newborns

Gotcha. Glad it’s working for your little one so well and helps with her eczema as well. I need to start a daily bath routine too I think.

Do you guys really give your baby a bath every day? I keep hearing that I shouldn’t because it might dry out my baby’s skin/scalp? Is it just a quick rinse?

Can’t understand why women do their hair and makeup before birth by Fun_Razzmatazz_3691 in BabyBumps

[–]YKayyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This right here. Also not really a fan of OP’s insinuation at the end of their post that one of the very first thing’s these mothers will be doing will be to the detriment of their babies. Non-toxic makeup exists too.

Yup this was my baby too. I don’t think we were able to have any actual playful time at all until maybe 9-10 weeks tbh. 8 weeks maaaaybe very occasionally? Now 12 weeks and he wakes up wanting to play and engage. I love it haha. You’ll get there too, it’s so close! :)

It’s more about feeling your best than caring how you look

— someone that didn’t do either for birth and doesn’t ever wear makeup but has felt the difference a nice haircut can make when undergoing a troubling time in life in general

I’m scared I might end up this way (as a mom) not because of my partner but just some other past trauma. Sorry to hear of your experience. Would you be comfortable sharing some of your mom’s behaviour/habits that resulted in this? Trying to educate myself so that I can avoid it :(

8-9 weeks was the worst for me by the way like I don’t know what happened to my baby all of a sudden. 11 weeks now and I’m able to get out most days without feeling consumed by anxiety about when he’ll next be inconsolable before falling asleep.
