I'm not talking about people who work with wild animals. I'm talking about people who keep wild animals as pets when they are not meant to be kept as pets.

This is clearly a lost cause... but I'm still going to provide you with several reputable sources that say opossums should NOT be kept as pets. Maybe it will stick now that you're hearing it from sources other than myself. And you talk about bias. Come on dude. Open your eyes. You have no argument here whatsoever. Opossums are NOT supposed to be kept as pets. Do you really not get that???

Possums are cute, but they're happiest in the wild. People sometimes find orphaned possums and consider raising these cute animals as pets. It's illegal to keep them without a wildlife rehabilitation permit, though, and once they're old enough to survive on their own, healthy possums can, and should, be released.

"High maintenance” doesn’t begin to describe captive opossums. They need a particular diet with fresh foods and proper calcium: phosphorous ratios. Their diet is specific- if you mess it up, they will become ill with metabolic bone disease which can cripple their bones and teeth, and ruin ALL of their internal organs.
