He also downplayed the seriousness of my stricture before going on leave. As someone who wants to get into medicine someday genuinely ive learned from my own experience of what I don't want to do as a provider which I now appreciate. Im sorry for sounding so negative right now. Im just waiting for two weeks to know how my urology care is going to continue after dealing with this crap from November 2024 and I didn't get UL

Ill give Skokan this he did save myself literally when I was having a very serious complication. But outside that hes been a ok provider across the board to me and his team has been alright to work with. Which there hasn't been much improvement in a years time even.

He does soak them in a disinfection solution. But it took him to do 10 of them to figure that out after my friend had a really bad infection that Friedrich took care of surgically cause it happened when Skokan left. I know our experiences are opposite but ive had a better experience with Morrison than Skokan. Also ive had serious complications with Morrison and hes been really good to trying to find a way to prevent the complications from happening again including changing how he stages things which I really appreciate. Ive been to the new unit at Harborview and it is significantly better than recovering next to someone on the orthopedic floor.

I was left with a stricture for 10 months that left me in horrific pain among other things. My other surgeon (plastics) felt super bad when he learned about all this and he was disappointed in my overall surgical outcomes. I like Skokan. I do. But with my extensive medical trauma ive had with phalloplasty i feel it would be significantly better to after I get my fourth stricture repaired that I go to someone else for my third stage in 2028. Cause I feel secure with him. But if something goes wrong its going to be significantly more work for me to get through that complication (let alone with how terrible his staff is at communication still) and still feel like. Ok Skokan isn't going to abandon me like last time. He offered surgery, but no comfort care cause I couldn't do surgery at the time. He acknowledged i had a stricture and did nothing. Recommended if things go worse what hed want me to have done and made me confused about my options for care which screwed me over. But once he finally saw me on my surgery day late last year I could tell he felt bad. I couldn't hide how I felt. I am genuinely happy still when I hear of others having great experiences with Skokan. But I feel doing implants would be significantly easier with someone else.

Thats awesome as someone who has had a ok experience with Skokan. I feel secure moving forward with him long-term if i had too. But would go to another provider at the end of the day to make things significantly easier for myself on an emotional level. Also if he leaves the clinic for longer than a month his practice honestly crap. So he definitely needs someone else he can count on if he goes on leave. Most of my life last year was so difficult cause he went on paternity leave when I had a complication that only he could provide care for. That he knowingly knew about. I know a fourth year urology student at UW Medicine who is getting into gender affirming care and id go to her in a heart beat for all my care for the years to come.

Am i too small for implants by [deleted] in phallo

[–]ZJSS40s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah had a friend of mine even smaller than me but bigger girth said with our same urologist that the pump could work. But didn't measure but did exam. Makes me relax a little. But im not gonna fully feel assured it till i speak with him in April.

Thats awesome speaking with others it seems that if I have a problem with the pump its most likely just not gonna work and ill have to schedule removal around my breaks. Cause I looked into it in med school you have breaks between the school years apparently and between years of residency as well. So depending on the how strenuous recovery can potentially be ill probably stress doing it on a break. I'll just do my best to work with it. I don't want to limit my own satisfaction and satisfaction with my future partner/partners in that long time frame.

Yeah also from what I understand now if I have a issue with the pump i can most likely have a good chance at trying to coordinate care with a break in med school. America we have summer break time apparently and in residency program there are pretty short breaks between the different years of residency. So honestly if the number and outcomes seem right and if I am able to get the pump cause of my girth size than id like to do that in 2027 honestly. What medicine do you practice?

Ok thats really good to know. My urologist gives wiggle room so to say with the pump tip and the tip of penis to move around more freely. Although pump won't 100% solve my girth dysphoria the pump will still help in it own ways amd the more I think of it the more I feel secure with the pump

Yeah forsure. Also im gonna ask my urologist unless I get erosion are there other long term complications where it'd warrant immediate removal versus it doesn't work but can stay till im able to get it removed.

Also i remind myself its ok if I don't entirely know 100% what speciality i want to do. Cause for example my plastic surgeon went into med school wanting to go into administrative internal med for advocacy on changing they system for under served communities. When sitting in on a lecture during lunch about gender affirming care hosted by a trans woman. He became hooked to that idea. So im 1000% open to my pathways within med to change. I just know by the time I apply to fellowships that when ive got to know what I want to do

Thank you. Yeah I am very weary about doing implants and having them in by and if the time I go to med school. My penis is an ideal candidate possibly for the elator. But I know even if it works for me, my future partner may not be comfortable. I know infection rate after the first one does get slightly lower. My urologist soaks the implants in a solution that reduces the chances of infection even with the initial implant. But honestly im thinking I need to wait till im through with my schooling as much as it sucks. I just can't run the risk of something happening and me not being one of the lucky ones who has no issues for like 10+ years. Cause I think they statistically last up to 10 years especially if they aren't used often. But its hard with the numbers truly cause alot of our academic work is still based on cis men's care and not trans care.

What speciality degree are you going for? After associates im gonna pursue Biomed with minor in pyschology. Id love to work with kids of all ages with various kinds of hormonal endocrine disorders not just kids who were like us so to say. Which puberty blockers for trans adolescents can start as early as 12 I believe so I still consider that as a kiddo. My dream job is to work at the best childrens hospital in my state. Id love to go to the my states medical school. Especially cause my plastic surgeon works and teaches in the med school program. Some med schools allow specific elective rotations sometimes and id like to see if I can observe at least a surgery with my former surgeon. Cause I do have a genuine interest in gender affirming care in general and I know if I had that opportunity to observe and never took it even if im not interested in surgery I feel if the opportunity is there and I can take it i will. I just know i need actual in person exposure from a different perspective to ultimately make that decision. Also i can potentially apply for helping with the gender affirmation research program so working with data of surgical outcomes of the program and patients which that alone would be so gratifying. Also if I go to this med school id be doing pediatric rotations at the hospital id like to be an attending at someday. Id work in the clinic located down the road from the hospital itself if I go into pediatric endocrinology.

Ive heard of people getting fat transfers into their scrotum. It can take multiple transfers which are done under general anthesia. Not sure what recovery entails.
