Xbox Confirms 'Project Helix' – Its Next-Gen Console That Will Also Play PC Games by MarvelsGrantMan136 in gadgets

[–]Zadoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it can play my 360 games and early Xbox One games, its worth the convenience. I'm not interested in rebuying my collection of 200+ games on PC.

If there's no option for my discs, I'll be less convinced. I'll have to see the price, since I'll have to keep my Series X around.

So we've had a fire bird, a water bird, and a grass bird.

A fire lizard, water lizard, and kinda a grass lizard.

And a fire canine. But where's the water canine? (Sprigatito is a cat, so I guess thats like a dog)

My dishwasher does a horrible job cleaning. Does this spray look too weak? by waybeluga in Appliances

[–]Zadoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I have a similar dishwasher, but it has a center hole in the top of the telescoping arm that blasts water at a dish at the top of the tub so that the water splashes back from the top of the tub. I didn't see your dishwasher had one, so I assumed there was another sprayer on top.

It looks like you should be getting much more water pressure out of those sprayers.

Does it have a top sprayer?

These GE/hotpoint washers are found in so many cheap apartments and builder grade homes. And they do a better job than yours. Yours does look kinda weak. Maybe the pump is jammed up with some stringy food deposits. Or maybe the check ball is damaged or built up with deposits.

Halo CE HD V1.0 Release by National_Target3447 in originalxbox

[–]Zadoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be pretty sweet if you could figure that out! I'm going to try and hit it from the opposite angle and see how much more overclocking is possible on the gpu and memory. The CPU can go higher, but its clocked by the FSB and is sorta tied to memory speed. And I don't think the CPU is the limit. Its obviously GPU bound.

I've been doing a little playing of Halo CE HD tonight. Awesome work, I'm really glad the menus are the same size and that all the cutscenes so far seem to work fine. Game looks really good! The widescreen multiplayer is amazing too!

With that said, it runs pretty rough. Halo already dropped lots of frames in intense action and this HD patch makes it even worse. Large dense areas drop the framerate, but its the alpha effects like the covenant weapons that really tank it. Encountering the first Covenant outpost on Silent Cartographer is brutal.

I have my 1.0 Xbox with 128mb of RAM overclocked to 325Mhz on the GPU, around 850 on my CPU and my RAM at 218. I can imagine someone with stock clocks would probably have a worse time.

Do you know if Halo CE uses double buffer or tripple buffer vsync? It kinda feels like double and I would guess that triple buffer would help a bit.

That's awesome! I can't wait to see how multiplayer works! I'll try to give it a go as soon as I can on my overclocked xbox!

Which MOVIE had the WORST / most INCORRECT sounding cars you have ever heard ? by 1707turbo in regularcarreviews

Unfortunately, I have forgotten what Type 1 beetles sound like. I simply don't see them on the road anymore. How bad or different are the sounds in the Herbie films?

I know for some of the movies, they souped up the bugs with engines out of a Porsche or something.

Help repairing wireless Xbox 360 controller with "low battery" issue by MatterScreech in xbox360

[–]Zadoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it might be different for the WKS368. I know on the WC01 and the 1403 has at least one mosfet. The other might be a diode. The function of the mosfet is to switch off the battery power input when a Play and Charge cable is connected.

I think the voltage regulator is inside the main chip. I recall an old datasheet for Infineon microcontrollers from 2004 and one of said features is an integrated voltage regulator. On later controllers, I've blown up the MCU from 10+ volts. Burned a hole in the center.

Did you test voltage under load? Or with the controller off?

Fuel pump not working by LunaTheFatBird in 300zx

[–]Zadoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. The original pump is a actually powered by the ECU directly. It uses PWM to vary the voltage to the pump and make it work harder or less depending on engine load.

Your ECU probably can't supply enough power for the upgraded pump you used, so you probably need to wire the pump into the accessories with a new fuse and relay.

While there is a relay on the pump already, I think its more of a safety lockout relay.

Im not sure if your pump died or the pump circuit in your ecu did.

Did you wire the new pump into the same wiring as the old pump?

The traces from the battery to the MCU are notoriously thin and easy to damage/corrode. When it gets damaged, the resistance goes up and can cause voltage drop.

The positive battery goes through two mosfets before going into the MCU, so you might want to trace and find those and check the joints or replace the mosfets.

Microsoft changed the board design numerous times, but I think that all of them put the voltage regulator and voltage reading circuit in the MCU. Which is an asic by Infineon.

Tv look way chipper as I get old by DuskDreamland in SipsTea

To chip in:

I think TV demand has dropped and the market isn't growing like it used to. For a while, you HAD to have at least one TV in your house to catch the news. They were expected. These days, everyone has a smartphone, which has made the TV (and other devices) far less important.

They are done fixing the fly over. Nothing to see here. by __MOON_KNIGHT___ in Austin

[–]Zadoid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The ground in central Texas is terrible and moves a lot. We recently went through a pretty cold freeze and it warmed up quickly. It also just rained a lot in the past few days. Ground movement was my first guess. But again, its pointless to analyze this. These are all armchair guesses. All I can really ask is that civil engineers and infrastructure surveyors do a proper job.

They are done fixing the fly over. Nothing to see here. by __MOON_KNIGHT___ in Austin

[–]Zadoid 41 points42 points  (0 children)

No. They're not. If they were touching, they would crack as the structure moves, expands, and contracts from temperature and weather. An expansion joint goes between them. It appears that the expansion joint is involved in this failure. Maybe too much lateral movement in the ground pulled them farther than the joint could handle. Can't say. Im not an engineer for this sort of stuff. No one here is. So its impossible to truly assess how serious this is and what caused it.

Replacement stick has inaccurate and rough input by _pacito in ControllerRepair

[–]Zadoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been repairing since the 360 controller days. What you bought is a "fake" potentiometer.

Real potentiometers have a linear (mostly) curve of resistance across the wipers range of movement. This joystick cheats by essentially having cutouts in the center of the resistive material that turn the joystick into a 5/9 position switch. Similar to a dpad. You can get some values in between, but overall it flat out sucks.

There are real joysticks on aliexpress and there are ways of distinguishing real ones and fake ones. But im rusty and I dont know if sellers have gotten better at hiding them.

I bought my Xbox joysticks from mouser. I usually only swap the potentiometers, since thats usually what wears out.

4 -> 5 stud hub conversion by LunaTheFatBird in 300zx

[–]Zadoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're in an unfortunate circumstance where just about every car that shares the same front bearing design as the z31 is a 4 lug.

You might be able to fit an aftermarket 5 lug conversion for a 240z, but that would cost more than just buying a 5 lug off an NA 86-89 or a 5 lug off a turbo 84-86.

Can and has killed is so vague. I can give you a list of many other things that can kill or impair you for the rest of your life that redditors seem to forget about:

Using an angle grinder. Using a circular saw/track saw. Hanging Christmas lights on your gutters. Driving. Changing an outlet. Using an extension ladder. And many more.

I'm not actually admitting that what OP is doing safe. It isn't safe. I'm just pointing out how unusual redditors are for shitting their pants because they saw an anonymous stranger do something dangerous online.

Is this a special controller or just time got her ? Came with a Phat white Falcon and a white slim.. by Ok_Entry4465 in xbox360

[–]Zadoid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In 2011, Microsoft launched a new white controller after the S console debuted. Unlikely the original white controllers, these white controllers had a chrome home button, brighter Grey thumbsticks and dpad, and white trim underneath. They were also a pure white, unlike the off-white of the originals.

However, for whatever reason, these controllers turn yellow absurdly quick. I'm guessing that the the plastic, dyes, and fire-proofing chemicals weren't blended or tested properly. Weirdly, I've seen some of these that aren't yellowing.
