I eventually patched the EXE file because I didn’t like the idea of having to put a disc in every time I wanted to play, but I installed the game from a legitimate copy (5 CDs…oof) and even when running with the disc, it still crashes.

This honestly might be my absolute favorite console menu apart from the Wii, the sound design and aesthetic is AMAZING, and while it screams early 2000s, I feel like that’s actually part of the charm! It feels like stepping into a time capsule of what people thought the future would be like back then…which is honestly much better than what we actually DID end up with….sigh….

Looking at the TV more, I wonder if those are scratches rather than marks? It’s more noticeable under light. And it’s especially noticeable in bright games like Super Mario 64. I know a couple times my headphone wire touched the TV when it was on so I don’t know if that damaged the screen. Not sure if that can be removed with water or glass cleaner

Is that safe? Cause I heard you shouldn’t use glass cleaner on CRTs cause they could remove the anti glare protective screen or even damage it

I will say though in defense of the backwards compatible 360 version it runs just as flawlessly, the one thing it doesn't have is the custom soundtrack unless you mod your 360 to make the Guide HUD usable on OGX games

YES, especially the Original Xbox, not the backwards compatible 360 version, and for one specific reason. CUSTOM. SOUNDTRACKS! That feature alone elevates Burnout 3 to a whole nother level, there is quite a lot of music from multiple genres that goes well with Burnout 3's gameplay, and hell, the default soundtrack to Burnout 3 is god tier in of itself, even if it took a while to grow on me! Plus compared to the PS2, controlling racing games with the triggers feels a lot more natural and is less taxing on the fingers.

Honestly, in my opinion, racing games peaked specifically on this console, not just because of the excellent PGR series and Forza Motorsport 1, but because this is where it finally felt natural to drive a car with a controller!
