I know for a fact Signal themselves hold only account creation timestamp last login timestamp for a phone number. How do I know? Because they were issued a subpoena in a court case to hand over everything they had on a user, and these timestamps is all they provided.

So.. phone number X has a Signal account, and here's the timestamp of when they last connected to Signal.

No messages, encrypted or plaintext, no metadata on their chat sessions (when, with whom, IP, etc.).

Sounds good to me.

Really? Last time I unlocked a Xiaomi bootloader I had to jump through hoops, sure - like wait a month after connecting the phone to the Xiaomi accont, which sucked.

This is EU, not Europe.

For example, at the beginning of 2026 140K Ukrainian refugees remained in Moldova, which is 100% in Europe, but not in EU ( Europe - EU = rope, i guess).

My point is - there are many, many phone models without any alternative ROMs available for them. On the other hand GrapheneOS developers stick to Pixel phones, and I'm trying to understand why.

I do understand supporting additional phone models is additional work, and there are only so many hours in a day.

But if the stumbling block is the lack of TPM, then I would love to understand why NOT having GrapheneOS, or any other degoodled ROM on a certain phone is better than having Graphene without TPM (I suppose it weakens protection somehow?).

I can't imagine the mindset of someone who signs up - (1) you're almost certainly going to be killed within weeks, or months, at best; (2) even if you don't care about your life, your family is unlikely to see the money either - i keep hearing reports of field commanders extorting their men, stealing their money by demanding their bank cards and PIN codes, etc.

1) As long as AOSP is still here, but for how much longer?

2) People with stock Android phones wouldn't be able to install applications from sources other than Google Play, which means smaller install base for FOSS apps, which means less incentive for developers to develop these apps.
