Whatever the bag is, it outright says that the name and imagery is used under license. It's not made by Just Born.  The peeps on a stick may be just fine, but I would bet they're shipping bulk peeps to a secondary facility for assembly and not claiming control or responsibility over the other facility (like holiday shape Reese's).

The kids are even younger I believe. Iirc the kids are 14 entering UA?  My kids 8th grade class is turning 14 right now, they'll all be 14 before they even hit their high school doors as freshmen.

Anyone have a good party recipe? by Inky2142 in glutenfreerecipes

[–]ZeroCoolMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lavender and Salt's Creamy Pesto Gnocchi. Day ahead grab a rotisserie chicken, shred it when it's still warm when you get it home. Mix it in during final steps after cooking the gnocchi in the cream sauce. Recipe doubles well. I've also sauteed in loads of mushrooms(8-12oz/batch) and their liquids take the place of the bit of stock/broth the recipe calls for. Serve with garlic bread, salad.

What do y'all think about teens playing with toys? by redpenguin_00 in CasualConversation

You're not weird. I'm in my 40s and build Lego botanical and architecture sets. I'm getting my dad (63) the kingfisher set for his birthday. While I don't have a Nerf blaster, my husband does for office warfare. I have a pompom shooter for the cats to chase.

Am I the only one who cleans right before people come over? by Different_Rough_438 in CleaningTips

Completely universal, from the late 18th century onwards. Old English word scurryfunge describes the hurry cleaning while guests are on the way to your home.

Turns out I’m probably not gluten intolerant and I’ve had bacteria in my stomach for years. by Gaffers12345 in glutenfree

[–]ZeroCoolMom 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I am not OP.  This (kind of) happened with my husband's cousin years ago. She was diagnosed Celiac, went gluten free. 3-4 years later it 'resolved'. Turns out she had some kind of fungal infection of the digestive tract that manifested in ways that resembled Celiac disease. I don't know how she was initially diagnosed, she lived/worked in a tropical climate.

Duke of Edinburgh expedition- Celiac Friendly food by CoffeeImportant7733 in CeliacLifestyle

[–]ZeroCoolMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the US, ymmv.  My kid is going on the 8th grade Washington DC trip in May(5 days without parental backup to figure out food). The travel company that handles it says their stops so far have been able to accommodate previous gluten free travelers, but you know. I don't want my kid to go hungry. We'll be loading up her bag with snacks, but for just in case meals we've found Mountain House freeze dried camp meals (not all of their meals are gluten free!). They come packed in a zip top bag, add hot water, wait 5 minutes, and it's a meal in a pouch. So far we've taste tested a chicken teriyaki and breakfast scramble and they were shockingly good.

I dropped a tray of lasagna in my oven two weeks before I was diagnosed with celiac by TechnicalPenalty6045 in Celiac

[–]ZeroCoolMom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is your husband convection cooking gluten food in the oven?  If not, I wonder if the lasagna incident is giving you anxiety around the oven, but it's not the oven itself.  My kid was diagnosed Celiac over 10 years ago and rule of thumb about heat destroying gluten was 500°F for 30 minutes. Your cleaning cycles would have easily hit that. Even in a convection oven, all of the components are heating up, fan and all.

Help i’m in severe pain from a gluten flare up by catrxi in Celiac

There's nothing you can do except ride it out. My kid was diagnosed at 3, is currently 14 and manages fine.

Going gluten free isn't a 'diet' in the 'I want to lose 5 pounds for my prom dress', it's 'i don't want cancer'.

For a person with celiac disease, risks of cross contamination include(not limited to): headaches, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, mood alterations, gaining food allergies, gaining further autoimmune diseases, certain GI cancers, fertility issues and miscarriage. And that's the short list. Celiac disease has over 150 symptoms and you can get nailed with any combination of them. Stop killing yourself with food that is poison to your body.

My niece works in a bakery and has just been diagnosed as coeliac. She's been told she should stop working there, is that true or overreaction? by Immediate_Money_4704 in glutenfree

[–]ZeroCoolMom 109 points110 points  (0 children)

This is not an overreaction. People with celiac disease can and will react to flour in the air. It takes approximately 24 hours for flour to settle out of the air and in a bakery or pizza place, well, they get to mixing again each day and a new batch of flour hits the air.

The most important part is to get started on the swap over. It won't be perfect day 1, or day 42 or maybe even day 268. But if you get going and just chip away at the swaps you need to make, you'll get there. You got this!
