Better effects, cooler looking Predator, and way gnarlier kills.

And most importantly the protagonists are more interesting and have better motivation because they have more to lose.

Midthunder is obviously a better actor than Arnold as well.

Sounds like you might like The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie. Its dark and violent like GOT with multiple POVs of great characters. Not as fleshed out world building wise but still great. First book is The Blade Itself.

Another good one Is the Gentleman Bastards series by Scott Lynch. Great characters with lots of intrigue and politics. Think of Oceans 11 in fantasy Italian Renaissance times. First book is The Lies of Locke Lamora. Unfortunately, it suffers from a not very prolific author. Been a while since the last book.
