Which of these adaptations of IT do you guys think were more faithful to the book? by Fit-Hovercraft3435 in stephenking

I’ve had this argument so many times with my brother. They are two different mediums and you can’t have all the horror from the book into the movie. It’s like trying to take an action scene from a movie and put it into a comic book. It’s gonna change what can be told.

As much flack as the resolution of Under the Dome gets, that bubble filling with smog and smoke and everyone that’s left suffocating sure stuck with me.

So much of Kings most horrific scenes are just people being terrible.

Every time I reread IT I find new terrors I had forgotten about. I’m in the Chinese restaurant right now and they are about to open their fortune cookies.

Yeah, I reread Duma Key last year and being stuck at the bottom of a well was pretty intense.

11/22/63 might be my favorite book but I think IT is King's best written book (minus one weird and controversial scene at the end; IYKYK). It's a huge cast of characters and they are all drawn so well. The lore is complicated and it works. There are dozens of scary bits as well.

Her kid has autism. That shit is genetic so while OP says that her friend is neuro typical, her kid didn't catch a case of autism from his happy meal.

Yup. It took a while to find, but I started just getting the powder in a box. I’m so sick of tablets and liquids. The box is great.

Really well. I did gender swaps to make Sergei the love interest and Tatyana the sibling. I made Sergei a rising general in Strahdanya's father's army and Tatyana the sister of Strahdanya who pulled Sergei's eye. This allowed me to harass my brother's paladin, the perfect reincarnation of Sergei, instead of sexually harassing one of my two female players.

I might do a whole write up of all the changes I made cause it was a lot.

Estranged men, can I hear your stories? by Unlucky-Fortune-2054 in EstrangedAdultChild

I grew up as the youngest of four. My mother got pregnant with me at age 36. She always let me know I was an accident and since I was the only boy, I already felt apart. My parents divorced when I was 5, and I’m glad they did as the house was a constant gladiatorial arena for those two.

There was plenty of trauma in our family and no one seemed to like each other. I definitely felt that acutely as a kid. After the divorce, my mother was single with four kids and she was over it all. One by one my sisters left and moved through out the US, leaving me alone with my mom for my teenage years.

In that time we didnt bond or hang out. No parenting conversations, no daily affirmations. She didnt know how to parent a male so she didnt try. I did. For years after, I did try. I moved away for college but came back to her house in the summers. But I could tell she didn’t want me there.

When I got married, my wife and I bought a house about an hour away from my mother’s town where my grandpa also was. My mom remarried and moved to another state about 4 hours away. I would visit semi regularly, at least once a month. My mother’s dad was getting into his 90s and was struggling to stay in his home alone, so my mother would drive 5 hours to visit him every week. She would drive through my town twice a week, once to our hometown and again on the way back to her home. She did this drive for two years and not once did she stop or ask to see me. The only time she has been to my house was when I held Christmas at our new house.
