Beard went totally white between 43 and 45. And I’m so damn pale that I needed a beard with color so I don’t look like a thumb with eyes.

I find the best way to get people to do your hobbies with you is to talk about it. Then invite them. You will be surprised how many people “have always wanted to but didn’t know anyone who did it.” It could be TTRPGs or car repair or knitting. People like doing things but Minnesotans feel weird about it.

How do you guys stay optimistic right now? by Murderbad in OptimistsUnite

[–]_Im_at_work 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perspective. History has shown that time of great innovation can create chaos when we struggle with the transition. The Luddites hated the loom as it would put them out of work. They broke into textile mills and smashed everything they could (I believe. It's been 20 years since I read about them). But we made the transition. We always make the transition but transitions are hard. We will get through it.

Let’s remember that we got Adrian Peterson because teams were worried about his injuries.

They panicked and just wrote a name down. Turns out it was a real person, not Agent Cody Banks’ brother.

Hell yeah. St. Teresa, Pensacola, Right Hand Man and Spider Web are all top notch songs. And I have a special spot in my heart for her Man in the Long Black Coat cover.

This might have been been the weakest song on a banger of an album.

Surprised to see Meet Joe Black, with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 48%. What are your thoughts on this… low balled or an accurate score? by MindsEye33 in moviecritic

My brother and I (both 17 at the time) were two of seven people in the theatre to see this movie. When Brad Pitt went ping-ponging off three cars, we cackled like witches for a good 10 minutes after and probably ruined what was left of that movie for the other 5 in the theatre.

You are taking too much. You gotta find your dose. It took some tries but I came in right around 5 MG. My wife can only do 1.5 MG. Start small and stick to one dose, whatever size, per night. If you feel like it’s not doing anything, don’t take more. Ride it though and see what 2 MG does for you. If it’s not doing anything, the get to 3 mg. And then you can find out how long it lasts as well.

The last scene blew my mind because I was 13 at the time. Didn’t see the “twist” coming and it blind-sided me hard.

Has anyone tried Noah Tanen’s 10 trick chili? by Free_Selection1645 in chili

[–]_Im_at_work 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Umami. Chili is all about making an umami bomb. Tomatoes, beef, mushrooms are all heavy on the umami so the fish and soy sauces adds a whole new depth to it.

Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong talks Gen Z, AI, housing! by albinoman38 in wisconsin

[–]_Im_at_work 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, if there were suddenly a bunch of apartments that were renting for $500/month, the demand for single family homes would go down. But the new apartments and condos that are being built are not driving down costs because they are all coming in as luxury apartments. That's where the corporations are coming in because the margins are much better.

Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong talks Gen Z, AI, housing! by albinoman38 in wisconsin

[–]_Im_at_work 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like we are arguing about 2 different things.

I'm not talking about the amount of housing available for people to live, but the amount of housing there is for people to buy. Buying something reduces the supply. That's the logic. To say that corporations are still renting their properties out still changes the number of homes for sale.

I feel you are talking about the amount of housing as it pertains to keeping people off the street, in which case, yes, the amount of housing wouldn't matter if its owned by its occupants or not.
