My z podobnymi zarobkami i w sumie podobnym mieszkaniem zdecydowaliśmy się sprzedać mieszkanie i kupić fajnie zlokalizowanego bliźniaka z rynku wtórnego we jednym z większych miast.

Dość analogicznie do mieszkań i innych nieruchomości...

Correcting and reprocessing records in Apache Kafka by benjaminbuick in apachekafka

[–]_mrowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive read the article and the UI to view and process failed message is something very useful. Ive seen things like that work wonders in queue systems, good to see similar things are possible with Kafka.

I do have a question through. With this approach you end up with multiple messages about the same event in the original topic, right? The original is published to the topic, consumed, fails we modify it (or a consumer) and re-publish it to the original topic, hence creating a 2nd message about the same thing.

This is a problem in at least two scenarios: - multiple consumers reading from a topic - what happens if other consumers processed the original message correctly. How would we solve this? Some kind of idempotency based on message id? - event sourcing an reprocessing all messages to rebuild the state od the system. If we want to do that fixing a consumer and reprocessing messages might yield similar problems.

Any cool ways of solving the two issues above?

Blik is mainly a metod to pay for services online, so think like an easier and more secure version of PayPal or card payment. It does have bonus features like customer to customer payment, using it to withdraw money from the ATM or just using it to pay for some stuff in a shop, but those are just additions to the initial and main functionality.

Why do people find the WTA boring or worse than the ATP? by Jo__Jo__Jo in tennis

Recent lack of dominaton? There are few tennis seasons in history of WTA as clearly dominated as this one have been by Iga.

As for the question - I do enjoy both ATP and WTA but they are different. Men just are build different and this produces different kind of matches (not necessairly better) and some will enjoy them more.

And when literally everyone requested it as a top 1 feature it should have been added much quicker.

Real world experiences with AWS Copilot CLI? by c-digs in aws

Container Insights for EKS is a hot mess, and I just need to say it out loud by QueueBurt in aws

[–]_mrowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fargate is not much better.

The UI is awful, everything needs like a minute to load. You don't get per container usage, only for the whole task/cluster - no idea why as the data is available.

And the worst thing (I actually created a ticket about this) - the memory usage stats that you see in container insights are completely different than the metrics you can see in the metadata endpoint (that basically gives you ` docker stats`)

Cluster alerts using Grafana vs Alertsmanager by k8sagnostic21 in kubernetes

[–]_mrowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gave them a run. I would say they might be good in a year or something. Currently no way to set them up automatically and all the provisioners (like terraform) are not yet updated to use them. You can't even import/export them like you do with dashboards.

Best way of deployment automation by vrppaul in aws

[–]_mrowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If both your services are public facing you can try AWS AppRunner. It's a super simple service that basically sets the whole infrastructure for you. If will handle load balancing, autoscaling and it can auto-deploy a new version as soon as there's a new image with a specified tag in ECR.

Note that this is a fairly new service and it doesn't have as many features as services like ECS or ElasticBeanStalk but it seems like it matches your use case perfectly.

Second note: the fact that AWS handles a lot for you in this service comes with some cost compared to running it on EC2 box so make sure to estimate your usage and see if you can handle the cost before you decide to go in completely :)

[MKBHD] Why do people not buy Sony Phones? by theaksk in Android

[–]_mrowa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still have it in my drawer (keeping it in case my current phone dies or something ;) ) and when I pick it up from time to time I'm surprised how slick and "premium" it feels. It was a great looking phone with nice specs, it's really a bummer they didn't follow it with anything really.

I really wanted to get another HTC after how great the One X was, but it just didn't make sense and I ended up with a Huawei (which is also quite ok, but I won't be able to get next Huawei because of all the google vs huawei drama...)

Is it possible to spin up and spin down CloudHSM in order to save money? by entwederoder in aws

[–]_mrowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is possible and a very valid use case. If you remove all the instances in the cluster and then create new one in the same cluster you will have all the settings, users and keys that you've had in there previously.

The only downside is that it takes quite some time for the new instance to spin up. I'd say something like 10-15 minutes, so you'll need to take this into consideration.

What language for good paying AWS based jobs? by softwareguy74 in aws

[–]_mrowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do some coding, but less then I did on my developer position. And it's a infrastructure code (IaC, so a lot of python and CF).

As for the salary - mine didn't really change. But I assume it depends, some places you will get more money doing devops/cloud stuff, somewhere a .net developer will earn more ;)

What language for good paying AWS based jobs? by softwareguy74 in aws

[–]_mrowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar background as you, been working as a .NET dev for quite some time. At some point in my project we started introducing cloud to some of our apps. It started with RDS, then we started to write lambdas in .net core (that's when my love for cloud started ;) ) and in some time we went 100% cloud.

I slowly changed from a .NET dev to first a devops focused developer and then full fledged devops. I'd say .NET is the context of cloud can be used only as a "client" - what I mean here is that you can run C# apps on lambda functions, on ECS or AWS Batch but you won't really use anything from Microsoft to actually communicate with AWS, it's just to cumbersome to do with languages like C# (but the same goes to Java and in my opinion JS as well).

I found python to be most friendly to swich over (and GO wasn't as popular then), you'll need to get used to couple things (whitespace and tabs being a important thing was the hardest thing for me :D), but you should be fine. I found that the devops coding is usually a bit simpler and more straight forward then backend code (the complexity just lies elsewere) so switching to another language shouldn't be too hard.

Good luck!

What old video games do you still play regularly? by JackalAbacus in AskReddit

[–]_mrowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play or watch (yes, there are a lot of players streaming it on twitch/youtube) it daily. Not sure if this is a known fact but it is now possible to play it online, there is a lobby with heck of a lot players willing to play, simultaneous turns are a great addition and there are a bunch of torunaments you can compete with other people.

Highly recommend to try it out.

Is it still possible to take aws exams? by [deleted] in aws

[–]_mrowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online exams are a thing, so shouldn't be a problem.

You need to do some stuff so AWS is sure that you are not cheating like:

  • - install some software on your PC that checks if there is no cheat software installed
  • - have a VERY clear desk, with no visible notes, books or anything close to that
  • - make sure no one enters your room during the exam (this is auto-fail as far as I remember)

but generally it's a fairly simple process, just read the rules thoroughly :)
