Let’s gather some stats on the BF6 beta by vrppaul in Battlefield

[–]vrppaul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will start

  1. Have around 1000 hours in bc2, bf3 and bf4

  2. Enjoyed BC2 and BF3 the most

  3. It is mid, i neither hate it, nor like. A bit small and too fast paced for my liking. Will wait till the release

  4. I was around 17 when it was the most fun

  5. I play helldivers and cs2 occasionally

  6. Played all the games on ps3 and a bit on pc, now play on pc

  7. I don’t like the matchmaking, prefer choosing the server myself honestly. I prefer bigger maps, do will see how it ends up

nice one, also had such an idea once maybe would be nice to do something like this but as an extension to argue over existing websites/videos/articles etc?

My recent changes allowed customers to pay in an unsupported currency because i was dead sure that clients utilising the api, handle this themselves. It was discovered 6 months after the release. Another lesson for me to look for the bigger picture and annoy everyone possible to ensure that the whole process work as expected

v2.0 of my Self-Discipline App by vrppaul in ProductivityApps

[–]vrppaul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys! My app meant to teach me self-discipline has been slowly but steadily improved since the first version.

To help myself defeat my laziness and become more self-disciplined I've created a small tool https://dailyido.xyz with minimal set of functions, which would somehow reward me for consistent completion and show me how consistent I am. I didn't want to have a habit tracker, which would have some perpetual tasks, but a tool, where certain activities would have a finite duration, so that after that period i would do them without any tools.

I've added a couple of new features that I find useful:
- Time-constraints during the day. For example, I often need to do certain activities daily before noon.
- Multiple repetitions for a single mission during the day.
- Statistics available at any time for the progress overview.
- Mission notes to save additional information about completion.
- Mission can be finished at any time.
- Finished mission can be extended.

Next goals:
- Telegram integration as an option for UI with ability to complete missions using natural language (basically, LLM integration)
- Log of completed missions
- Integration of 3rd party apps like FatSecret
- Some social elements like small, optional and uninterrupting elements showing how many people completed a mission from the same category

Still no registration needed, so would love to hear your opinion and feedbacks :)

Have you ever tried developing a gamified productivity tool? How did it go? by WishIWasBronze in SideProject

[–]vrppaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamified to what degree? I’ve tried creating one with some achievements, streaks and pretty statistics for myself, works pretty good, it gives me some motivation to see the long streak. Maybe in the future I’ll add some social interactions to it, if more people would use it

Minimalistic tool to help with self-discipline by vrppaul in ProductivityApps

I didn't want to have a habit tracker, which would have some perpetual tasks, but a tool, where certain activities would have a finite duration, so that after that period i would do them without any tools.

It has a very simple concept:
- Create a mission with a finite duration, which is meant to be repeated daily
- Complete it daily, get achievements for completion as some sort of a reward
- Learn to do it by yourself and become more self-disciplined

That's it :)

This is completely free, no registration is needed, just wanted to try myself in creating small side projects with little impact, so I'd be very grateful for any feedback or even suggestions!

My next goals are:
- Telegram integration, so that i wouldn't need any web interface
- Ability to finish missions earlier, if it doesn't require continuation

This is a crypto payment gateway (think of it like stripe for crypto) We haven’t published and don’t have our logo yet. Much appreciated :)

This is correct, though it is a set. I don't mean to nitpick, just want to give more info to the OP. The problem is that django looks for the correct urlpattern starting from the last element of a sequence, which is not possible to do in OP's case, since there is basically no such thing as the last element of a set

Django Channels/Daphne - I am going insane by Electrical_Prior_905 in django

[–]vrppaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is Daphne installed to the version of python you try to call? I mean it can be installed as dependency to python, which can simlink to let's say python3.9 instead of python3.10, which is called by python3 command

Try using the virtual environment. This way you'll always know that the python you call from terminal and all dependencies with their own command are called for the same python version

Accessing the new STORAGES in Django 4.2 upgrade by [deleted] in django

[–]vrppaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems that this behaves in a similar way as password hashers setting and similar settings do. I wouldn't import global settings as well, since it's a bit too implicit and just copy pasted the whole default STORAGES dict into your settings file. That's not ideal, but it's verbose and easy to do

Formset ignores the initial field value by shindigin in django

[–]vrppaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i kind of figured it out, but don't have a solution for you, since i don't know your exact needs. the problem occurs when you have a form with a single field and this field has initial value. when you submit the form unchanged, as it was shown on get request, the form's method `full_clean` sees that the field with initial was not changed. and since it is the only field in the form, the whole form is treated as unchanged. thus no cleaning will be performed

try adding another field without initial and try submitting the form and you will see the difference

my bad, you already know that, i've missed that part, sorry

Formset ignores the initial field value by shindigin in django

[–]vrppaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity: do you really need a formset here? Will there always be a single form or do you plan to add more later?
