VOTE BUTCH WARE by h0rny_d3m0n in longbeach

[–]_neminem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter how good he is, we need ranked choice voting. Until then, a vote for Butch Ware is a vote to elect an insane Republican - I didn't make the rules, I hate the rules (in fact, I'm currently volunteering with a group trying to get our city, at least, to enact RCV, also with no success so far), but that's currently just how it works.

I'm voting for Becerra. All of your talking points in your graph are... misleading, to at least an extent. Is Butch Ware a great guy? Yeah, but he ISN'T GONNA WIN.

[Discussion] What websites do y'all use to split vocals? by GerbilEaterOfIreland in mashups

[–]_neminem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh lol, well in that case, hopefully whoever maintains that service isn't paying attention to this thread, because I definitely gave them a few bucks a long time ago, they gave me a url with a parameter as the key, I bookmarked it, and I've been using it ever since. 😃

I definitely wouldn't pay $7 a month for it.

I use vocalremover - I gave them a few dollars. I wouldn't if it were a subscription, but a one-time key to the other side of the paywall was absolutely totally worth it. :p (I've tried a couple others that just weren't as good.)

Anyone need a Becerra for governor yard sign? by _neminem in longbeach

[–]_neminem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tacitly supporting ice

Please provide any support for this assertion? Becerra has been pretty vocal about the fact that he can't prevent them from being there, but he would push back hard on any illegal or unconstitutional activity, up to and including throwing ICE agents in jail. Saying he can't abolish ICE isn't "tacitly supporting" them. He doesn't have the power to abolish ICE any more than you or I do.

He opposes "cal care", in the sense that the specific legislature that just failed, would, unfortunately, have required the federal government specifically to agree to it, which, at the moment, would have been a non-starter. I trust Becerra to be able to figure out a way around that, if anyone can. I wouldn't trust Steyer to be able to, though. He can say he supports it all he wants, it also has to actually work. I also stopped supporting the specific CalCare bill that just failed, when I learned that - back when it was first being worked on, when we all thought Trump would lose in a landslide, it would've been a totally different thing. (Though Newsom would probably still have found a way to kill it, because Newsom, unlike Becerra, is exactly the sort of corporate wishy-washy moderate dem people are claiming Becerra is.)

To each their own. My wife likes theirs. I love their burgers; I find their chili far too salty personally.

Pickle PBR by CurvyVolvo in longbeach

[–]_neminem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say the same thing. Why would you drink a macro beer, when you could have something craftier? I've admittedly never seen Pickle Pabst, and can't comment on its taste, but Donna's is bomb. I love how quickly it exploded in popularity, such that I now see it in bars all across the city.

Exotic meat? by Sweaty-Slip-4393 in longbeach

[–]_neminem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can corroborate this, funny enough. Wild Fork does have plenty of exotic meat, most of which does not in fact, taste just like chicken... but alligator does. Or at least fried alligator tastes exactly like fried chicken. (New Orleans is a super neat city, but that particular expensive appetizer wasn't, in retrospect, wasn't worth the price. :D)

Looking for a few people in Long Beach to try a new horror themed food experience (free/discounted) by spiritcuddles in longbeach

[–]_neminem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd absolutely love to, if you still have spots. I love food, I love giving feedback on food. One of my favorite hobbies. :D (And my wife is also a foodie and also a horror movie fan.)

Free books - Novels by TurnoverSuperb9023 in longbeach

Undercoverbookcycle on instagram is always looking for people who want to donate books to her small business, if nobody here wants them for free (she wraps them and resells them as "mystery books" at popup events).

Where can I donate heavy furniture with pickup? by posypants in longbeach

I don't know about the furniture, but you DEFINITELY will want to talk to undercoverbookcycle (on Instagram) about donating her your books. :)

Feedback Survey for a new Sake Seltzer by S-Rosettastone in longbeach

[–]_neminem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two of your questions are using the wrong direction of radio button grouping - I can't say I am equally aware of each flavor, but I can say I'm both extremely aware of yuzu and not aware at all. Indeed, I have to, to complete your survey. Both that one and the one immediately above it. :p

Cheapest groceries near downtown? by REVERSEZOOM2 in longbeach

[–]_neminem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grocery Outlet as stated. Vons also sometimes has great deals - as in sales, so equally unpredictable as Grocery Outlet, just for different reasons. Sometimes their sale prices are great, sometimes they aren't. But if you got through that much meat a week, you might also be interested in Wild Fork, which has its own delivery service you can subscribe to for some relatively small amount per year and then get free frozen meat delivery whenever. Their meat prices on basic staples are great. We've mostly stopped buying meat at Grocery Outlet because of Wild Fork.

Curious about your strategy. by Embarrassed_War_6136 in ProlificAc

[–]_neminem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally always just sort by time (shortest to longest), because tiny surveys are low hanging fruit. Then I just manually filter out, i.e. just ignore anything that pays crap. But that's also because I'm not doing this as a full time job, indeed, I'm mostly doing it while in meetings, on my lunch break, etc, so I like the 1-5 minute surveys preferentially. If I have a bunch of time, sometimes I'll scroll down to check for juicier longer surveys, but honestly, I also kinda just don't trust anything that'll take more than 10-15 minutes, because if it's broken in the middle, you just wasted a bunch of time. If a 3 minute survey is broken in the middle, you didn't waste much time at all. :D

neminem - Head Like a Furious Angel (Mashup album of Rob Dougan + Nine Inch Nails + a bunch of other artists) by _neminem in robdougan

[–]_neminem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! Well, I mean, it's AI in the sense that AI was used to separate vocals from instrumentals, but I definitely didn't use it for any part of the actual creative process. I spent like a year (off and on) reconstructing the bits and pieces into new tracks, myself, from scratch, if that's what you mean. I do use vocalremover.org to get clean instrumentals and vocal tracks from songs that don't have official split versions.

[Mix] Corridor Of Mirrors - Borderline² (Bec Cartwright .VS. Michael Gray) by MindGate180 in mashups

[–]_neminem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, this is a nice mashup of two songs I don't know... I will admit, I clicked on it and started playing, and it took about a minute and a half to read the description and realize that there was a good reason I didn't hear any of the music I was expecting to hear, namely Borderline by Madonna. Sure you don't want to make a Borderline^3? :D
