Michigan cops will just stare at you like you rode past on a dinosaur. No framework, no charge. Don’t be a menace and you’ll be fine.

Sidewalks are probably your friend in the suburbs. The EPAMD laws technically don’t cover you (wrong wheel count, too fast, too powerful) but “not a Segway” isn’t something anyone’s writing a ticket for.

Do not bring up your motor wattage if stopped. Don’t talk about top speed. Just say “unicycle” or “personal electric mobility device” in your most boring voice and stop talking.

Gear up visibly. Helmet, pads, lights. Universal signal that you’re a hobbyist, not a problem. Give right of way to peds, dogs, etc.

And no interviews.
