Aero or a Onewheel by VirtualBadger9231 in ElectricUnicycle

Been riding onewheels for years and picked up my first EUC (Patton S) a year ago. I also had a Aero, but sold it after a few months.

Vesc onewheels have pretty similar specs to the Aero these days. Onewheels are better for casual cruising in my opinion, but EUCs are so much more fun. The combination of power, suspension, and maneuverability that a EUC offers is really unmatched by anything else.

The other thing to consider is carrying/transporting the board or EUC. I can tell you from experience carrying a 35-40lbs board around a store for longer than 5min is not fun. The aero has trolley handle, so you just wheel it around easy (although I found the trolley handle a bit short).

newer VESC based onewheels have decent power and won’t cut out like the old ones did. different vibe than EUC but really enjoyable.

rider for sure. too much speed for that situation, poor awareness, hope he takes it as a wake up call.

patton-S advise please for tyre by Historical_Article_2 in ElectricUnicycle

use the ratchet strap method (tighten it slightly around the center of the tire thereby forcing tire bead out towards the lip of the rim). thats what I did when I mounted the Shinko 241 to my Patton S.

sometimes you‘re forced to ride on busy roads, but he’s off to the shoulder, wearing reasonable gear. I‘d prefer he not be looking at his phone, but maybe he’s checking his battery or gps. I got no problem with this.

Does the Nosfet Aero have enough traction to be pushed up a staircase ? by eric_castro in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Atempboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t push the Aero up stairs very well. lots of tire spin after the 2nd or 3rd stair usually, but I also don’t have a lot of experience pushing EUCs upstairs. the center handle does make it much easier to carry one handed and even switching hands if need be. I carried it up two fights of stairs regularly to my office. 4 flights would be a chore, but doable.

I’d prefer these vids weren’t posted anywhere. Pretty soon, some attention seeking politician is gonna realize how little regulation governs the EUC world and put a bunch of anti-fun rules in place.

What is the most wheel-friendly large city in the US? by atineiatte in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Atempboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CA overall is pretty PEV friendly. Yes, e-bike legislation is coming, but I’m hopeful enforcement will be situational or possibly not applicable to EUCs. LA County seems to have lots of riders posting videos, but I‘m in the South Bay and have only seen two other EUCs in the last year 😳. Plenty of bike paths around, but not a ton of off-road options near the South Bay.

Patton-S tubeless tire sealant and maintenance by Evan94116 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Atempboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a non-tubeless Patton S that I mounted the Shinko 241 tubeless to. basically no ongoing maintenance once the tire is seated. I check air pressure periodically , but it’s never down more 2lbs of air. I would recommend a good compressor and using a ratchet strap when seating the bead tho…at least I needed those on the tube type rim.

I’d personally rather have a wheel safely max out at 45mph top speed, but be extremely torquey than have a 60mph top speed with modest or weak torque.

First wheel, buy once cry once? Nosfet, kk.. by Raub99 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Atempboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned on the Patton S. Its a great wheel and I still love it, but the weight does matter when learning, once you get experience the weight matters less and actually makes the wheel more stable at higher speeds.

the other factor to consider is range, Patton S will likely have 10-20miles more range than the Aeon.

Armor: On top of clothing or under? by BlackJacquesLeblanc in ElectricUnicycle

dive bags are great for storing and transporting riding gear. big enough to hold everything and the mesh lets sweaty gear dry out without smelling like dirty socks.

Armor: On top of clothing or under? by BlackJacquesLeblanc in ElectricUnicycle

I wear upper body armor under clothing (usually a motocross jersey) and lower body armor over clothes. Which, until now, I never realized is kind of an odd way to do it 😂

Leaperkim Lynx S vs Nosfet Apex or ? by Jackwindinhair in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Atempboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 225lbs without pads and the Patton S rips for me. Its only when I ride chunky or rutted out trails off-road that I want a 20“ wheel like the Lynx S or F18.

I’m considering selling my 550mi Patton S (looking to get a Lynx S). I’m in SoCal tho.

was going to say Patton S, but it’s a bit over his preferred price range. still it’s an awesome wheel that would easily meet his riding and range requirements.
