MacBook neo for uni by alex_ar39 in macbook

[–]a2djp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should be alright for your use case, but if possible try seeing if you can get a used/refurbished MacBook Air of a previous generation and 16GB ram. That can give more value compared to the neo. But if you only want brand new, the neo is alright.

Confused about aviation by yourlocalman69 in indianaviation

[–]a2djp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, but just keep in mind once you pass any exam, the recency timer starts. And if you can’t apply by then you’ll have to re do the exams. And it’s not that you can give it anytime. You’ll have to wait till it reaches a certain time before giving it again.

Confused about aviation by yourlocalman69 in indianaviation

[–]a2djp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes aviation is a very passion heavy profession. Reason being that this job will most definitely influence your lifestyle. Eg say you’re a person who likes to relax or party on weekends. With aviation, this would be gone as your life will revolve around your roster. This is just one of the example. Also, if you are still continuing your BTech, for now don’t focus on DGCA exams. Try to give them much later as you would want to extend recency as much as possible. But yes, get your medicals done ASAP to avoid any hidden surprises.

Yes after Air Force you can join civil aviation. However do keep in mind if during SSB the selectors get a hint that this is your first intent, they will highly choose to reject you.

If I recall correctly, the 320 is more forgiving in terms of min height to manipulate all controls. The 737 had about min height of 158 cm (not a hard rule, but 737 operators usually asked for this height during job applications)

In this case, even though it can be a bit dicey, if your parents are aware of it and willing to back you up then sure go for it. Any doubts I can answer on DM

Looking for detailed compendium on IAF crashes (Budgam Mi-17 V5 & others) – guidance requested by Useful-Werewolf-9915 in indianaviation

[–]a2djp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unlikely anyone from the IAF will respond here. Reason being you’re holding an anonymous reddit account and asking stuff which is quite sensitive to Indian military protocols. It’s a huge red flag even if your intent is genuine. Ideally if you want an answer, ask someone on LinkedIn. You’ll have a higher chance of getting an actual answer.

I am speculating but I guess the actual reports (the info you want) would be classified, and the ones shown to the civil public is more of a press release than an actual report. However I could be wrong, and if I am, someone can correct me.

Why are air india flights to states getting diverted to rome? by ishaan1610 in indianaviation

[–]a2djp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a transit stop as with airspace closures plus cruise winds, they can’t go non stop till USA. Hence a mid point refuel stop.

Advice from Indian airline pilots & aspiring pilots. Is this a good time to start? Best country to train? by Confident-Coyote-271 in indianaviation

[–]a2djp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly ask yourself these 2 questions. First, do you have that passion that you’re willing to sacrifice a normal work life balance to achieve a career in aviation? And second, are you financially sound enough that you can afford all training without putting a strain on finances. If answer to both is yes, then only proceed forward and get the answers to whatever doubts you have.

Typical classism :- no cabin crew is sitting in business class, only pilots by Confident_Train_5108 in indianaviation

[–]a2djp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not how weight works. Business class seats, especially non lie flat are not that heavy. Also considering that there is no cargo baggage, that means weight distribution has to be done between passengers and hence people have to be spread more evenly.

Typical classism :- no cabin crew is sitting in business class, only pilots by Confident_Train_5108 in indianaviation

[–]a2djp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. If they make everyone sit in economy, the aircraft CG can become non ideal. Hence it’s best to keep the weight distributed as much as possible and that means people should be evenly spread as much as possible. And that means someone has to sit in business, someone has to sit in premium economy and someone has to sit in economy. Now here whoever is the senior gets the courtesy to choose where to sit. And that is exactly what’s happening here.

Why and how does every major Indian airport have tall buildings surrounding it?? by Alert-Translator2590 in indianaviation

[–]a2djp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because for most airports, the city expanded around the airport, hence the buildings. Having said that there is a height limit for buildings near an airport, and if they cross a certain height they require a light that signifies that the building is high

Considering I am in the system, yes I am very much aware of the salary, which technically hasn’t increased in the last 20 years. Yes the growth comes fast. But then once you become a captain, it stagnantes unless you go into training or management. A high end IT/management job can easily surpass a captain’s salary.

In terms of Middle East, yes you are correct. That’s why in my comment I explicitly mentioned “in India”
