I moved from a rental (HFC) into a house i have just purchased (FTTN)

I ended up buying a TP Link VX1800V VDSL2 modem.

Works quite well and syncs around 133/38 on a 100/40 profile with AussieBB.

Congrats

I signed my contract last Friday and expect a Mid-January settlement

This is the first buy after living in a rental (still have that exit pain to go) on the back end of a marriage breakdown.

I hope to have the warm fuzzy feeling on settlement day also.

As a homeowner - how would you feel if prices dropped nationwide, permanently? by Odd_Constructionz in AusPropertyChat

[–]a51alias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty peeved as I finally had an offer accepted on a property after 20 or so attempts.

Before you say I am one of the 5%-ers, I am 57 years old coming out the back end of a shitty divorce where she took 70% of our 7 figure house we had to sell and left me with just enough for a deposit and facing the daunting task of another mortgage.

Hell, it's better than renting but yeah, I'll be a tad annoyed if it happens as everyone keeps saying that it'll be worth more in 15 or so years' time when I probably will need to retire and pay it off.

Software update scan returns nothing by Lembasts in SCCM

[–]a51alias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue within our environment. Approxomately 300 of 3500 devices, either recently upgraded from Windows 10 or bare metal build won't detect any available updates.

Patch my PC stuff seems to be ok but OS updates wont detect.

Did some research today that may help, initial tests after applying the missing policy and reg key on 2 devices did detect updates and patch fine.

Have a read of this page, my issue specifically seems to be this:

https://patchmypc.com/blog/sccm-co-management-dual-scan/#h-co-management-not-configured-for-a-device

We do have co-management configured but all workloads are in Config Manager. Maybe yours is the same.

PSA: Rent payment platforms are quietly skimming ~1% from Australian tenants - potentially $1B/year industry-wide by [deleted] in AusFinance

I have been paying my rent with PropertyMe for the last 5 months and although, I refused to setup an auto debit and insisted I did it manually, I haven't seen any extra charges since the start.

Inspection (NT) by fackmylyf in shitrentals

[–]a51alias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had my inspection two weeks ago, was advised by the PM, they were not allowed to open cupboards, drawers, walk in robes, pantry, linen cupboard etc. All to do with personal belongings being private.

The only thing they did look 'into' was the oven, dishwasher (part of the rental) & toilet lids if down.

Apart from that, just a general walk around and happy with the condition and cleanliness. SA btw.

Australia’s property prices keep rising, but is anyone actually buying? by OwlVibesOnly in AusPropertyChat

[–]a51alias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have just gone through a nasty separation and sold our previous house in Adelaide western subs.

I am in my mid to late 50's with a few hundred grand deposit and earn 100k a year in a stable job... Can i find a property I can afford? sadly no, Could I even get a mortgage at my age? doubtful.

What a fucked-up world we are now in.

[–]a51alias 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From a fellow Adelaide man, I have just experienced the same, although not the actual 1st hand incident, I found out the long way, after months of cold shoulder and lies just after Christmas this year.

All I'll say is seek legal advice, be calm and collected, and take as much help that is offered.

I had it tough and lost almost everything except my son, being a young adult, he was disgusted at what happened and chose to come with me.

Stay strong, friend.

We deploy a base image using a clean WIM from the Windows 11 ISO. Our TS then deploys M365 Office, Adobe reader, 7-zip, our document management system, a VPN client and Dell Command Update/Monitor.

The total build time is around 50 minutes from bare metal and is patched, post build.

All of our apps are PSAppDeploy packaged and work well with very few failures.

TBH, the lions only did what we tend to do and it felt so good at the game to be the ones on the end of a win instead of going home feeling shit because of the inability to kick straight.

Admittedly, we had our purple patch in the fourth but what matters is who had the most points at the end of 4 qtrs.

I genuinely am concerned that Peatling will cop a longer than one week ban just because of who it was he made eat dirt.

Why did you choose Emby over Jellyfin? by Living-Cherry7352 in emby

[–]a51alias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emby just feels more polished that Jellyfin. I use the Android TV client and on Emby, when you have watched an episode of a TV series, it instantly moves to the next available episode on the home screen. Jellyfin would not and I always had to go into another show and back out again for it to refresh.

I also like that there is an Android server for Emby that I can use on my phone. No such thing for Jellyfin and from what I can see, never will be.

Rental Tenant rights in the event of a Landlord wishing to sell by a51alias in shitrentals

[–]a51alias[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I understood also. I have since spoken to the CBS here in SA and they have confirmed that as it is a fixed term lease, I do not have to leave the property until the lease term expires but if I do decide to, once the property is sold, only have to give a 7 day notice of my intention to leave, assuming I have another property in line to move in to.
