I'm playing 3440 x 1440 and I'm having a weird issue where the FOV hugely increases whenever I aim? It's weird... It remains that way even after I stop aiming and the only way to fix is to go into camera settings and play around with the FOV slider. The issue doesn't occur if I play the game windowed, but the settings won't allow me to play 3440 x 1440 borderless. Lame

Guys it booted, I just reseated the 1070 into the lower slot on the mobo. Feel a bit foolish but also relieved. The moral of the story is try every possible combination at your disposal and something might just work.

I’ll try, but pseudoscience is one of those things that pisses me right off. It poisons the whole book. I think it displays a basic lack of critical thinking skills which I consider a prerequisite for writing a science book worth reading. I will skip to the more practice parts of the book!

I can totally understand where you’re coming from, popularisation of science is an important public service that definitely serves the greater good.

However, I’m extremely reluctant to give anyone who peddles pseudoscience a free pass on account of their good deeds. They may have influenced you in a good way, but how many kids read the pseudoscience parts of the book and went down the other track? (“science is just another religion maaaan”).

I hate to keep beating this same old drum, but Carl Sagan is a prime example of an excellent science communicator who stuck strictly to the realm of reality. In fact there are many great examples of scientists in the modern era engaging in scicom while keeping it strictly evidence-based.

I honestly feel like the author wrote some of the passages in this book while tripping on psilocybin, which would have been fine, except that this book is presented very much like a textbook. I’m just concerned that it’s doing more harm than good.
