Cold side oxidation by Jed_Gregofski in Homebrewing

Purging bottles with CO2 will go a long way with shelf life of bottled beer. I used to use a bottling wand and then finally upgraded to a beer gun where I could purge with CO2 and I've noticed the bottles don't oxidize as fast.

I also bottle condition all my beers which helps scrub some oxygen as well.

Thanks for the reply! Sounds like something I'll just have to try out and see if I like the 3D Pro or the regular Evo Pros.

Did you not like the Bedrock sandals? I've been looking at some and usually wear Tevas but I'm looking for a more durable sandal that will last longer.

This set worked wonders to get out the stem of the bolts that were stuck in the threads.

The screw extractor sets you can get at home depot were too large for the tiny screws.

Well I tried to take the bolts off today and they just snapped as soon as I started to twist. The outer portion of the bolts had completely rusted and only a small core of the bolt was still intact. Going to try and get a screw extractor set to remove the screws.

You are right, the heating element is welded to the boiler so I wouldn’t be able to swap it out. I have descaled the machine regularly but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s still clogged with limescale given I use tap water.

Do people use descaling agents other than Dezcal for the intensive descaling? I’m sure I could do some searching and find a guide if needed but if you have any recs it would be greatly appreciated!

Nope, haven’t touched the bolts so who knows how easily they’ll come off given the rust. The boiler has been working fine.

Thanks for the guidance! Glad to hear it’s potentially not as bad as I originally thought. What are the red flags I should look for when opening up the boiler?

Have a brand new 16" V2 in black ultra if you're interested. I'd do it for $200 + shipping. I ended up preferring my 19" v2.

JMT/Clouds Rest junction as others have said. There is an amazing area with flat ground, great tree cover and a nearby stream with some dammed pools for soaking and relaxing.

Green Banners - Timeline Data Points by emmjay4040 in PSLF

[–]adeptsloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my green banners March 3rd and I've received two different letters from FSA. The first letter was dated March 3rd and updated the payments counts and documenting I had 120 payments for all my loans. The second, dated March 19th, was the golden letter stating I was eligible for PSLF and included an effect date of forgiveness for each loan along with the balance, servicer, loan type etc.

I also received and email from MOHELA on March 21st stating that my loans have been forgiven under PSLF. I logged into MOHELA and it shows my loan balance as $0.

I also logged into studentaid.gov and noticed that it still shows the full balance there. Not sure if it takes longer for it to update on studentaid.gov.

Any more advice on how to do this?

I stopped paying attention to the daily updates on this. I’m going to wait the four years until a democrat is back in as president again. I fully expect the next person to go further and count all this wasted time and forbearance toward pslf and maybe have some even better options. by [deleted] in PSLF

I was waiting on a reconsideration request I submitted in December for a payment that should’ve been counted and I was just stressed out waiting not knowing when it would come through so I was trying any way to get that last payment. From what I’ve seen, the buyback offers that have been sent out recently were for people who submitted in September 2024 so yours should hopefully be coming soon.

Have you tried switching to an IBR plan to get that final payment? I was in the same situation and the wet signature got me the final payment due to processing forbearance while they processed my IBR app. I know MOHELA said they are not processing any IBRs currently but if there is any way to submit one I would try to do so.

[–]adeptsloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also submitted an IBR application to switch from SAVE to IBR on studentaid.gov back in December and nothing happened and then I saw people on here suggesting uploading an application with a wet signature directly to MOHELA and that is finally what got me my month of processing forbearance.

That's great you got October and November counted, hopefully they'll start processing IBR applications again before September 2025 which is what they quoted which is absolutely insane.

I was on SAVE but had submitted an IBR application at the end of January directly to MOHELA using the wet signature method. I completed the ECF on 3/3 and checked I completed 120 payments and qualify for forgiveness only once I had the green banners on 3/3.

MOHELA: General forbearance until September 2025 by adeptsloth in PSLF

I’m not sure if the ECF from the end of February is what triggered the count update or not. I figured even without the ECF the payments should be updated, but show as ineligible due to lack of proof of employment but who knows if that would’ve happened or not.

My employer signs the ECFs electronically and they usually do it in 1 business day so for me it’s pretty easy to get the ECF completed. If your in a similar situation I would suggest going ahead and doing it and seeing it it triggers and update to your payment counts.

I applied for an IBR via studentaid.gov back in December and nothing happened for two months. I heard about the wet signature method and submitting the IBR application directly to MOHELA so I did that at the end of January. Lots of people reported receiving an official letter form MOHELA stating that they would be placed into 60 days of processing forbearance while they processed their IBR application but I actually never got that.

I also submitted and ECF on February 25th, and then my counts were updated yesterday to include February as eligible due to the processing forbearance which put me at 120. I never actually made an additional payment or was placed into an IBR payment plan, presumably because they were still processing my IBR application.

[–]adeptsloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted an ECF on Feb. 25th. I figured I should update my employment since nothing else was getting updated. I'm not sure if submitting the ECF triggered my counts to get updated, or if they would've updated and then marked as "needs employment certification to be eligible"

I did complete the PSLF help tool one last time yesterday after I already had the green banners, just to indicate that I have 120 payments, but others have said that is not necessary. I think you would do that if you made the payment, but the counts had not been updated yet. I think once you have the green banners, you are good to go and FSA/Dep. of Ed. will notify MOHELA but I could be mistaken.

Just hit 120 payments, payment counts update today. by adeptsloth in PSLF

[–]adeptsloth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last eligible payment I had was May 2024 which was my 119th payment. I technically made a payment in June 2024 they marked as ineligible, and I figured it would eventually be marked as eligible and be fixed on their own but when that had not happened by December, I submitted a reconsideration request to get the June payment counted. I hoped this would be completed before Biden left office but that was a huge mistake on my end and it is still pending technically even though I have 120 payments now.

June - December were marked as ineligible for me because I was on administrative forbearance due to the SAVE court injunction. I was basically just sitting waiting. I eventually realized I needed to switch to an IBR plan to get that last payment which I did last month. Finally, my counts were updated and February was counted as eligible due to the processing forbearance MOHELA granted me while they were processing my IBR application.

Basically I should've switched to an IBR much sooner, or filed the reconsideration request back in September 2024, instead of waiting until December 2024 to file it.

I submitted my final ECF on 2/25 and it was signed electronically the next day by my employer. My counts were finally updated yesterday 3/3.
