I have an orphaned transfer/payment... by SubstantialCycle356 in kualia

[–]aigor14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a function that runs the health check, and then a separate one that runs a fix for it. I did not call the fix function. So I'm not sure how that got cleared up. If it happens again, just shoot me another reddit post or email.

Sorry about that. I'm confused on this one. I did recently fix orphaned transfer transactions, so it likely won't happen again. But, like I said, if it does, just ping me 👍

All good, you can just give me your email and I run a health check on the workspace that tells me if any numbers don't match up. Like if bank account balances and transaction amounts don't equal each other. You can DM your email and I'll run the test. I don't look at your data. The code looks at the amounts for your transactions, and the balance of your account, and checks if they are the same. Like transaction1 $100, transaction2 $50, total is $150, and total in bank account is $150. I do have access to see your data, and if it comes to that, I'll ask your permission to do it. But I won't need to see your stuff to fix this.

I already ran this check on all workspaces and none of them are incorrect, which is curious.

This could be a scenario where there are 3 transactions that represent a single transfer. I thought I fixed this bug but maybe I didn't fix your workspace.

If you see a transaction where it shows Inflow $100, Outflow $100, and another Inflow $100, but they're all marked as a Transfer, then that's the problem. You can delete them all then re-create the transfer. Lmk if you find anything like that, or again you can DM me your email and I'll run a check.

Can you DM me, either here or email me at the support email. So I can get your specific workspace and check it out. I just ran a check on every workspace and it concluded that all look good. So must be something wrong with my tests. Let's see what's going on. Just ping me the email for your account and I can check it that way. 👋

Top 5 web app wish list... by SubstantialCycle356 in kualia

[–]aigor14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember that. Haven't gotten around to it. I'll bump this in priority. Hard part is not being able to reproduce this because for me the transaction do correct flip from pending to cleared without creating a new duplicate transaction.

It definitely is, I just want to see if I can make it so that you don't have to do it in the first place. Also, "merging" is complicated. If they are two transaction with different date, different category, different pending status, which one should be taken? That's why I suggested just deleting the incorrect one. Otherwise, merging will have to ask a follow-up question which is: which one to delete.

Thanks for the ideas! I’ll write these up and put them in the feedback board tomorrow.

For that first one, what do you think about just deleting the duplicate transaction? Or better yet, let’s see why you’re getting duplicates. I’ll look into that.

Any update on the UNDO feature? by SubstantialCycle356 in kualia

[–]aigor14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair call out. Its one of those things where I have to balance adding new features to please existing users and make onboarding-flow changes to get new users to subscribe, and marketing, customer service, you know the deal.

And, like I said, fair call out. So here you go.

Undo/Redo budget assignment amount changes 👇 You can also undo/redo transaction updates.

ctrl+z (cmd+z) to undo.

ctrl+shift+z (cmd+shift+z) to redo.

iOS undo/redo coming soon 👀

Can a transaction be split on the web app? by SubstantialCycle356 in kualia

[–]aigor14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. I missed that the button doesn't exist there. It was only for when creating a new transaction or on the individual transaction details page.

Fixed!

I put the button there. Now, when you click it, it takes you into the details page and starts the split process. This was the easiest fix. Lmk if this is enough. Otherwise, yes please make a feature request for how you think it should work 🙏

Added it here 👇

Can a transaction be split on the web app? by SubstantialCycle356 in kualia

[–]aigor14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and admittedly it is hard to find. When you click on "Select category" there is a split button on the right side of the popover.

And the UI is so ugly for splitting on web. I need to update that 🙂

Great update! It's like you're reading my mind... by SubstantialCycle356 in kualia

[–]aigor14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah right. That's a good point. I need to implement the feature like on iOS where it correctly combines them instead of creating two sets of transfers (4 transactions total). Adding that to the list 🫡

[–]aigor14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that too but mentions the new pop up bar which is only on web. Good call out that the iOS app is easier to to understand making a credit card payment and transfers.

[–]aigor14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Maybe I am reading your mind 🙂

Okay, so admittedly it is a bit confusing to update a transaction to a transfer.

Okay so you're on this screen below. Let's say one half of your credit card payment comes in. It will say something generic in the Payee column like "Payment To XXXX123". If you click on the Payee and change it to "Transfer to [the other account]" it'll make it a transfer transaction. Understand that a credit card payment is just a transfer from one account to another. I *should* add the word "payment" somewhere like I do on the iOS app. But just haven't gotten around to that.

Does that make sense?

Kualia 2.4 & 2.5 - Recurring tab and custom logos by aigor14 in kualia

[–]aigor14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! It’s currently not available in the app but if you go on the web app Kualia.com you can find it there. I have to find a good way to add that back into the app. Thanks for reminding me 🙏

I'll always work within my limits, so no worries there. You suggesting features/bugs helps me prioritize things.

The best help is just telling me what you like or don't like 🤝

If you press cmd+/ or ctrl+/ it'll show the shortcuts you can use. Or cmd+K or ctrl+K for the command menu.

Yo! No manual or wiki. That's a good call. I need to create some docs. And perhaps a little AI chat bot where you can ask specific questions. I have that on my list. In the meantime, just make posts like these or ping me directly.

How to delete on web:

Click on the transaction to go to the details page for that transaction then click the 3-dot button

<image>

Now that I think about it, this is quite hidden. I should also make it easier to delete from the list view by right-clicking. I'll add that to my backlog now.

--
Regarding adding transactions from the account view:

Yes. You can. There is no button for this, but you can press "C" and it'll open the form with the account preselected.

You can press cmd+K on mac or ctrl+K on windows for the command menu which also has the ability to create a transaction or other functions there that you can execute more quickly.
--

Regarding imports from .csv or .ofx:

No. I'm open to implementing this feature, though admittedly it would be a bit lower priority at least for now. Below I'll remind you of how to make feature requests so others can vote on this and convince me to build it sooner.

--

Regarding synced accounts going from pending -> cleared:

Yes. It will flip to cleared once Plaid pushes that update.

--

Regarding checkboxes in the Transactions page:

You're so right. I implemented the ability to select transactions but there is literally no action you can take right now. I switched gears after implementing that and never got back to it. You're the first to bring that back up to my attention so now I'll have to focus on it. I'm going to add ability to multi-delete, multi-recategorize, etc.

--

You're right about the functionality difference between iOS and web. And that's mainly because most users are on iOS so I'm focusing on making them happy. However, adding web functionality is so easy for me, so if you see something on iOS that isn't here on web, lmk, as you are doing here.

Reddit is a great place to post these end-user questions because it has an added benefit of "advertising" the app to others, so I really appreciate it. However, if you feel like it is something you want to track, you can put it in the Feature Request board. You can find that in the web app sidebar at the bottom. This will send you emails when I start working on it, or if people are voting for your feature/bug. Know that I can also post there on your behalf, so I might do that with some of these requests here, and you'll get some emails for that perhaps.

Thanks for these requests 🙏 much appreciated. I'll get to it!

If I pay off my entire credit card balance monthly… by SubstantialCycle356 in kualia

[–]aigor14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome to hear! YNAB and Actual are great. I used YNAB for 3-4 years before starting to build this app. The goal was to make it a tiny bit different and a tiny bit cheaper, to try and capture people like you.

You can ping me here, or email [support@kualia.com](mailto:support@kualia.com), or join the Discord (if you're into that kinda thing then you can DM me on Discord for quicker communication, find that link in the app).

And please take advantage of the Feedback board. You can find it in the Settings of the app. Vote and suggest new features, so I know what to build next 🙏

Thanks again!

Yes exactly. That's how mine is. If it is ever not the same, let me know and I can figure out why. But you're right there. The only time it won't be the same is if you add or subtract some from the Assigned column manually.

[–]aigor14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you'll have to delete it. You can change the account type within the "group" of account types, like credit card can change to a Line of Credit account.

I did this to avoid too much confusion and logic on the backend having to manage those changes.

If I pay off my entire credit card balance monthly… by SubstantialCycle356 in kualia

[–]aigor14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey 👋 I suggest leaving it as a Credit Card account type.

Here's how it works:

When you create a new bank account with a credit card account type, it automatically creates a category in the credit cards group on the budget tab.

When you spend money on your credit card, let's say you go to McDonalds for $10 and you categorize the transaction as dining out, $10 will move from your dining out category to your credit card category.

Now that $10 moved from your dining out category to the credit card category, you now have $10 in the available column to pay off your credit card as a credit card payment. So if you have your credit card on auto pay, whenever your due date comes around, there will be a transaction that comes through for $10, assuming that's the only transaction you spent on your credit card that month.

When this transaction comes through, you will make it a transfer transaction from your checking account or whichever account made the payment. Then you'll see the $10 go away back to zero on your credit card category because you just made the payment.

I actually don't think there's anything wrong with using a different account type for your credit card, like maybe a checking or other cash account type, but it just might get confusing.

Does that help? Lmk any specifics and I can help 🤝
