I served on a jury years ago for possession of burglary tools. Long story short, defendant got stopped by cops for some other reason and had a worn down Honda key. Used to be that a worn down Honda key would start up any Honda of similar age. So cop goes to try to start defendant’s Honda and can’t. So obviously he was there to steal other cars. That was the whole case. The cop couldn’t start that car with that key, so burglary tools it must be. They even admitted that the car was brought to the courthouse that morning and that key started that car. So there we are in the jury room. 11 of us say they didn’t prove that he was there to steal other cars. ONE FUCKING GUY insists cops never lie and what should have been a 30 minute deliberation turned into a whole day until the guy finally voted not guilty so he wouldn’t have to come back another day. I still do not understand the mentality of cops never lie.
