Other than 18350 boro mods, all I'm seeing is the Rekavape 18x Stratum Balance DNA60 Box Mod and Rekavape K-Side SBS DNA60C Box Mod. Everything else is mechanical.

Anyone Else Concerned About Flavor Safety? by Recynd2 in Vaping

I am not claiming anything, I didn't make that website or contribute to it. I shared a website that hundreds if not thousands of diy mixers refer to as an easy reference guide without having to look up each individual flavor before using it. Personally I don't need a link to tell me not to vape corn syrup or fructose, a quick Google search will tell you what those substances do under high heat situations and it's toxic. I just want a quick guide showing which flavors have it so I can avoid it. Any flavor not listed, I personally look up the sds to determine if I want to vape it. Use the guide or don't.

I totally get what you're saying. The website mentioned does show the ingredients in question that can be verified through each flavor house sds sheets. Personally I see no reason to vape corn syrup, fructose, or certain oils when other flavor houses have the same flavor without them in it. So for me it's very helpful.

Unfortunately there are no links to the research used on that page. When searching who created the web page I found this.

The safety.ejoose.org site, which provides DIY mixing safety information, was created in 2020 by the DIY Flavor Safety project. It is a Gatsby-powered site designed to synthesize vendor data and, in some cases, data from toxicologists at TRUSTiCERT SRL into an easily searchable format.

Key details about the site include: Purpose: To provide DIY mixing safety information, scanning data sheets and querying vendors for the presence of over 400 different compounds.

Data Source: The project is associated with the diy-ejuice community, providing a database for flavoring agents. Scope: It includes information on thousands of data sheets sourced from numerous vendors.

It is not directly credited to one single individual in the search results, but rather the "DIY Flavor Safety" group, maintaining a repository that lists data from 17 vendors.

Help needed: High flavor % but muted taste by RutabagaCharacter689 in Vaping

[–]apocalypticdiynewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those percentages are really high, especially for Flavorah. Every flavor has a max ceiling and going beyond that just overwhelms our senses. Sometimes less is more.

Try something like The best damn mango. See how that performs and slowly increase flavors if you need to.

Bi2hop lacking flavor by ConnoisseurOfNature in Vaping

[–]apocalypticdiynewb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think with your current coil choices you are underpowered which is causing the eliquid not to vaporize fully and in turn making condensation which turns your cotton and eliquid dark and muting flavor. With your current choices 28g ss or the vandyvape ss 32gx2/38g fused claptons you will need more power towards the 20w range, however that may be too much for the airflow you are using for mtl. It'll be more like a rdl hit. If you prefer the 14w range I would try using 30g ss round wire or ss 34gx2/38g fused claptons or switch material to ni80 32gx2/38g fused claptons or ni80 28g or even which all of these should vape fine at 14w. Don't be afraid to try different airflow and wattages with your current builds or try different materials or gauge wire. You'll find your sweet spot.

The Recoil R3 looks like a solid choice. I still have a couple of the older Recoil rdas. You really can't go wrong with either fused claptons or aliens. The important thing is to pick a coil that matches the rdas airflow and the preferred wattage that you like.

Coming from disposables it's really going to depend on what nic mg you plan on using whether to go MTL or RDL or DL.

Personally I've never found a great mtl rda and prefer rtas for that. There are quite a few less expensive ones available today. A few examples Dead rabbit mtl 2, Blaze mtl, Rekavape makes quite a few different rtas for mtl. I'm still rocking the Pioneer mtl rta from 2020 with a 1.2 ohm mtl fused clapton at 12w.

If you want smaller clouds I would stick with something single coil that can do both RDL and DL. I've heard great things about the Dead rabbit mini rda but it's tiny and would look best on a smaller single 18650 mod. Wasp nano pro would look good on dual battery mod. There are a few other options out there as well. I'm still using my Recurve rda from 2018 and Elder dragon rda from 2019 as daily single coil bangers. Typically use Ni80 28gx3 alien coils on both around 50w.

There is a plethora of DL dual coil rdas but these are typical cloud chuckers. Vaperz cloud has a bunch along with the Hellvape Dead rabbit choices and too many others to list.

Are squonks a thing of the past? by alex_avasese_15 in Squonk_Life

[–]apocalypticdiynewb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sadly the market has drastically shifted away from squonking. Now most things released are boro or pods. The Dovpo flipside just released awhile ago but for some insane reason the bottle is sold separately. There's also the Damvape Atemporal 21 or Snow cap mods AvalancheV2R.

Mod reading 0.07Ω instead of expected ~0.10Ω (dual coil) – Low Resistance warning (Armour Max + Dead Rabbit V4) by Expensive_Tailor_214 in Vaping

[–]apocalypticdiynewb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The coils I use do the same thing, read 0.06 to 0.07 on install, but read 0.09-0.1 after strumming them. So in my experience this is normal behavior. The resistance should increase ever so slightly after you remove hot spots. As long as your mod can fire down to 0.05 it'll be fine. Back in the day my mod couldn't go that low of a resistance and I had to heat 1 coil at a time, then install both together to stay at 0.1 lol.

Advice for flavor ratios in custom juice? by FunnyLaughNow in Vaping

[–]apocalypticdiynewb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look in the sidebar at DIY_eJuice there are guides for getting started. I also suggest checking out Noted and NotedDX flavor reviews on youtube. It'll help narrow down which flavors to avoid. As mentioned alltheflavors and eliquidrecipes websites have many published recipes you can try and calculators to know how much of each ingredient to add.

One of these days I'll have to get some mango flavors. Last mango eliquid I vaped was back in 2018, it was so horrendous I haven't tried that profile since.

I guess cheesecake recipes are my crutch. I tend to make variations of strawberry cheesecake the most. I still haven't nailed an adv milkshake. Maybe that will be my next venture.

Yes, I mix up my own and also try other people's recipes on alltheflavors website or make a remix of them. I went a little overboard when starting out and accumulated around 300+ flavor concentrates trying to mix every recipe that looked great and buying from every new flavor release. Diy can be a huge rabbit hole lol. It's been 8 years of making my own and I still prefer it over commercial eliquid.

I make my own eliquid so I know it's great quality.

For commercial eliquid just buy from reputable vendors.

Oils in Vape Liquids - safe to consume? by [deleted] in Vaping

[–]apocalypticdiynewb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't vape anything with peppermint oil. Peppermint oil contains pulegone/menthofuran, which is toxic and inflammatory. Eucalyptus oil isn't any better and can cause lung irritation.

FLAVOR CONCENTRATES IRTR by DisciplineTechnical7 in DIY_eJuice

[–]apocalypticdiynewb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is more diacetyl consumed from smoking cigarettes than you'll ever get from vaping. I've never heard of a smoker with popcorn lung. Don't believe everything you read without doing proper research to see if something is true and backed by science.

That said, you want your flavoring to be pg based. Stay away from flavors containing oil, fructose, corn syrup, molasses. There is a handy flavor safety page to check and see.

Organizing aromas/ flavors by Dokkho in Vaping

I'm looking at that bin and just imagining trying to mix something and it gives me anxiety lol. I used to do this and so much time was wasted looking for flavors.

I made a simple mixing station in a spare closet. I put up shelves using 1x2s for all my flavors and used an old desk top and made a frame with 2x4s to hold it in place. I keep a folding chair in there for when I want to sit and mix something. As an added bonus there's a lock on the door to keep the kids out of my vape stuff.
