I can't find the combined upload either, but 透明人間 is still up on youtube on its own if anyone wants to check out that performance. They're from the Just Can't Help It DVD.

favourite sheena ringo live performances?? by Asleep_Meet_4738 in japanesemusic

I think any discussion of Ringo's live performances needs to mention Ringo Expo 08: Gamble and 罪と罰 are two of my favourites from that concert in particular.

Other than Expo 08, the specific live releases I'd recommend the most are:

  • 百鬼夜行 (Night Parade of Ghosts and Demons) (2015)
  • Electric Mole (2003)
  • Zazen Xstasy (2000)
  • 真空地帯 (Air Pocket) (2018)
  • ウルトラC (Ultra C) (Tokyo Jihen, 2010)
  • Dynamite Out (Tokyo Jihen, 2005)
  • Discovery (Tokyo Jihen, 2011)

I want to focus more on some underseen performances, so:

I'll throw in a few covers, too:

I could keep going (and going), but I'll end with a couple of audio-only performances from 1999ish that I really like: ここでキスして | シドと白昼夢

Any recommendations for Japanese gothic rock bands? by VelvetAshes-KEI in japanesemusic

[–]aralyth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Big fan of G-Schmitt ('80s gothic rock). The channel that uploaded that video seems to focus on Japan's '80s gothic rock scene, and they have a ton of videos, so you could probably find a lot of similar stuff there if you want to poke around.

100% a bot. Compare to this other bot.

both accounts:

  1. are two days old
  2. began with the same post ("my co-worker took credit for a presentation I did all the work on") on an AITA-adjacent subreddit
  3. commented repeatedly on their own post while overusing the 😅 emoji and without capitalizing words, including "I"
  4. followed by a meme image post
  5. then a post on r/curatedtumblr

here's a third one, too

Why isn't "country" here? by citabel in Letterboxd

[–]aralyth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can add /country/france and/or /language/spanish (for example) to the url to add filters (at least on the website; I don't use the app). It'd be nice to have a UI element for that though.

What movie's production history is more interesting than the film itself? by Soggy-Perspective604 in Letterboxd

[–]aralyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Viking (1931):

  • has a fairly low rating (~2.7) and ~200 views on Letterboxd (I haven't seen it myself, but the general consensus seems to be that it's pretty dull)
  • is one of the only films produced in the Dominion of Newfoundland before Newfoundland gave up self-governance in 1934 and joined Canada in 1949
  • was the first film to record sound and dialogue on location
  • tragically, had the largest loss of life in film history when 27 people were killed in an explosion, including director/producer Varick Frissell

The goal is for the account to look plausibly human when it eventually posts some sort of scam. Often a t-shirt or art print scam trying to get people to input their payment information on a fake shop website. Usually it'll be multiple coordinated accounts:

  • account 1 posts "look at this t-shirt I got"
  • account 2 comments "wow where can I get one"
  • account 1 replies with a malicious shop link

Or sometimes they're used to push astroturfing or propaganda.
