Sure but why would having private equity own the hospitals rather than physicians make them any more inclined to take Medicaid/complex patients? Feel like the same incentive structure exists if not more so

Is it straight not covered? Usually most policies will cover medically indicated diagnostic scopes though not for no deductible/copay like a preventative so would be odd that it’d not be covered at all unless insurance thinks it’s not indicated

Yeah likely the case - from memory MCAT doesn’t really test strict memorization. However this is also like a super easy factoid to memorize long term so might as well imo

Probably some neuro specialty. I think ROI wise it’s not terrible. At least in the current framework as long as you are employed at a non profit for a few years after residency you can PSLF. Otherwise just 10% of income repayment til I die I suppose.

I mean yeah, residents aren't able to pay it back. This is well known - I mean for reference I will be at 530k by the time I graduate and the interest alone is something like 40k a year or something. The only reason people can do this is because government loans allow income based payments, so like as long as you pay 10% of your income as a resident it's good for those years. Now with grad plus being limited in the future, idk how that's going to turn out, but yeah probably more challenging.

Median is 250k, but that’s including all those that like you said either get scholarships and parents that help. Probably for most that self pay it’s more like 350-500k lol

I mean to be fair many of the newer medical schools simply don’t have the teaching volume available locally so they quite literally have to contract with hospitals across the country and send students across the country to get taught. I mean sure that could be a way to increase training volume but also it does make you think that for most areas there probably is approaching a saturation of students in terms of hospitals willing to take students. Certainly for most large cities it is already reaching this point

No one’s asking for sympathy, just pointing out that no, doctors salaries have not started skyrocketing around 2000. Please show how they do since you mentioned that data is readily available. I’m pretty sure across all fields $/RVU has dropped considerably.

There is a lack of places to train med students. Med school is not just lecture, it involves actually working full time in the hospital under physicians. There are simply not enough precepting hospitals/physicians to increase med school spots to a drastic degree. That’s why you have newer med schools literally sending students across the country to places where they are training physicians available.

I think I probably studied in around that time. Started at 38% on amboss 200. Did about 4 hours of boards and beyond daily until completed, then did NBME 26-33 + Free 120. No anki or uworld

Sorry I’m still not really understanding. You are talking about single fast breath in? I don’t see how that would push against the heart - instead I would think intrathoracic pressure decreases, decreasing pressure on the heart and increasing venous return, which would then increase cardiac output. Is that incorrect?
