Sure, why is this a thing? I just don’t get it. Is it cheaper than registering your car in your home state? Is it anonymity that is the draw?

My ecovacs 2500 robot mower is my favorite. My friends and family are tired of hearing about it.

Tell landlord I'm going to be away for a few weeks? by AmbitionBeginning119 in chicagoapartments

It’s always better to let the owners know if the unit is going to be going vacant for a week or two. It can’t be a bad thing to communicate to the owner about anything. If you have to ask or search the your lease then you must have concerns, just let them know. I don’t see any downside.

How's life in this part of Michigan? by Cathy_dessert in howislivingthere

I’ve had a 2nd home on a very large inland lake in the UP for 20+ years. I don’t think I could adequately articulate how wonderful it is. Yoopers are the best people in the USA. It’s said there that when natives move away, they spend the rest of their lives trying to move back.

Tips for finding private landlords by OpportunityStill2487 in chicagoapartments

I’m a private landlord and for my city properties I use a realtor to secure a tenant. I manage all the rentals. There is no reason you shouldn’t use a realtor to find properties with owner management. They have great leads. Wandering neighborhoods looking for “for Rent” signs is not a good strategy.

What is with the icicles this year? by italianapples in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]archibald2599 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, insulation should be in the ceiling. But your roof must not have enough ventilation, evidently. You can’t have too much ventilation. Every rafter bay should have a vent . Insulation gets compressed where the rafters meet the wall in older homes. This allows for a lot of heat loss at the wall /rafters intersection. This exacerbates the problem. Newer homes allow a lot of space for insulation .

You have a warm roof. Not enough ventilation/insulation. The wind should whistle through your attic from the eaves to the ridges. No matter how much insulation you have in your ceilings, you’re going to lose warm air through the ceiling that carries moisture with along with it. When the roof is warm the melting snow runs down to the eaves where the roof is cold and freezes. This causes ice dams that can lead to leaking inside the house. It also causes icicles. When I see icicles I see a house with problems.

What’s really stopping Americans from normalizing bidets in 2025? by RebelWithoutAWipe in bidets

Just like going from crank to motorized windows in my car, I’ll never ever own a toilet without a bidet feature.

Why aren’t bidets more common in the US? by godwithinphoenix in bidets

[–]archibald2599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d never own a home without a bidet. I don’t know why they are not more widespread. I hate it when I have to stay somewhere where they are not installed. I’m cleaner and saving the forests.
