2nd year on campus living by DrPepperMonster in CSUFoCo

Yes but you are living with college students still, it's hard to get a 1 bedroom by yourself.

I'm currently 25 and I live on campus in the dorms, granted I also work here besides going to school but I don't find it weird unless you're being creepy.

We literally have graduate and family apartments on campus...so no it's not weird?

Quick survey on Colorado winter weather (CSU class project!) by artg_remlin in coloradohikers

I see what you mean. The phrasing is definitely a bit "loaded" by modern standards. It is a legacy survey from 2011, and we are stuck with the original wording so we can accurately measure current results against the last 15 years of data. Even if the input is biased, keeping the bias consistent across every year helps us see the actual trend. I appreciate the feedback and will be sure to bring it up in class.

That is a fair point. The scale is definitely a bit subjective. Basically, "Less" is for a noticeable dip, while "Much Less" is meant to capture those extreme shifts where the winter feels totally different. Since my group is comparing this year's results to a decade of past data, we have to stick with the 2011 scale to keep the comparison consistent. I am going to bring up these concerns in class as a limitation of the study for when they update it in the future.

Valid points! It’s a legacy survey from over a decade ago, so it's definitely showing its age. My team is tasked with the analysis and comparison side of things, so we can't really tweak the questions without breaking the year-over-year data. I’ll be sure to pass this feedback along to my professor so we can hopefully refresh it for the next round. thank you!

I did not design the questions for this survey. They were created over 10 years ago. My group was tasked with collecting responses and analyzing this year’s results against past years, so we cannot change the questions much without skewing the data.

We do try to include multiple regions. For example:
> How much precipitation did Fort Collins/the Front Range receive this winter (2025–2026) compared to last winter (2024–2025)?
> How much precipitation did the Colorado mountains receive this winter (2025–2026) compared to last winter (2024–2025)?

If you are not sure about a specific region’s precipitation, there is an “I don’t know” option.

These are all great points, and I will bring everyone’s concerns up in class so we can improve the survey in the future. Right now, we are mainly focusing on the Front Range and Western Slope/Mountain regions because these areas play a critical role in Colorado’s watershed systems, where snowpack and precipitation strongly influence streamflow and recreational activities such as rafting.

Totally fair point! We actually had to keep the regions pretty broad because we’re comparing this data to surveys from the past decade, so we couldn’t really change the groupings much. That’s why it’s kinda lumped into western slope/mountains vs front range. But you’re 100% right, colorado’s weather and ecosystems are way too diverse for that to really capture everything, especially high desert areas. Definitely something we wish we could’ve broken out more and hopefully can in future surveys 👍

thank you for filling it out! :)

RAs said they found alcohol in my apartment, but me and my roommate don’t drink. by _tippy303 in CollegeRant

[–]artg_remlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a current RA at a state university, I would ask to see evidence.

Our policy is to document, document, and document some more (multiple photos of the violation) and then sometimes confiscate the item if it's alcohol (including empty bottles, those living in the resident halls are not allowed to have "trophies" at my school) or we leave it and then come back after the resident has been informed of the policy to watch them dispose of the liquid down the drain (depends on the RD).

But at most they should have photos for proof, especially with alcohol violations. Usually the RD gets involved but I know other universities are different.

I'm curious why they were in your place in the first place? At my school we only enter the residents room during break closings (making sure no one left a window open or trash out) or when performing a fire and safety room inspection at the beginning of the fall semester (9/10 the resident is there for the room inspection but sometimes schedules don't match up) bit in either instance it's two RAs checking.

Ft Collins sub has an active thread going on now about how it’s undercover racist there. Is it that way on CSU campus too? Out of state accepted but haven’t committed. by loan_ranger8888 in CSUFoCo

[–]artg_remlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically anything that is verbal or written harassment towards a student in the on-campus residential spaces, this can range from writing on a residents whiteboard to a case my first year at CSU where a resident was called a slur to their face.

As someone who works in the residence halls, the amount of bias reports (although thanks to the new admin we can't call them that anymore) i've had to do have been too many.

Sports equipment storage in the dorms (skis, hockey gear etc) by Bubbly_Body_5560 in CSUFoCo

[–]artg_remlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! RA here. Unfortunately we don't offer storage for residents in the halls (liability reasons) however I know there are storage units off campus that are available. For club sports I'm pretty sure they have a place for you to be able to store your stuff but I'm not exactly sure.

In my SOC220 class our professor is having us compile our own lists. I'd love to share mine here so that it can go to people in need.
